I am David Vallier and I have been a seminarian for one year at the Nazareth House. I would like to share some thoughts that were very eye-opening for me over the past year that might be helpful if you are longing for something deeper in the Faith.

Just a few weeks ago, when I was applying for Saint John Vianney seminary in Denver, they asked me this question dur-ing the interview: “What is your relationship with Jesus like?” It is something we never ask others, and that no one ever asks us. You might be more ready to answer: “What is your relationship with your parents, spouse, or children like?” But Jesus? To answer the question, it will likely take a good bit of reflection and prayer. Here are some questions I invite you to consider.

When was the last time you talked to Jesus? How did it go? Have you ever visited Jesus? Has He ever visited you? Do you ever go over to His Father’s house when Jesus invites you? They celebrate something every week! Do you invite Jesus over to your house? Do you let Him sleep over or does He live there permanently? Is He there so much that He has become a part of your family?

I’ll go further. Have your ever met His Mom? What is she like? Do you have her phone number? If not, its: 1-800-ROSARY. Do you call her once a week… everyday? Does she ever get to visit? Do you let her love you as if you were her own child? Have you let her adopt you? Have your ever met His Dads? Both of them? Have you ever met any of Jesus’ siblings? They are all adopted! Even further. Have you known Jesus for a while? How did the two of you meet? Is it still early on in the relationship or are things getting serious? Have you ever hurt Him? When you apologized, how did He respond? Are there any difficulties? How do you work them out? Have you fallen in love with Him? Last time I talked to Him He was dying to see you. I think He loves you.

My brothers and sister in Christ, Jesus is God made man. He is fully divine, but He is also fully human, and wants to enter into a real relationship with you. He loves you –personally. Everything He did, He did just for you. How do you respond to Him who loves you so much, especially when you feel unworthy or even unable to love Him back. Then in peace and sim-plicity say: “Jesus I have nothing to offer you. I can only tell you how much I want to love you.”

Aquí hay algunas preguntas que los invito a considerar. ¿Cuándo fue la última vez que habló con Jesús? ¿Como le fue? ¿Has visitado alguna vez a Jesús? ¿Te ha visitado alguna vez? ¿Alguna vez vas a la casa de Su Padre cuando Jesús te invita? ¡Celebran algo cada semana! ¿Invitas a Jesús a tu casa? ¿Lo dejas dormir o vive allí permanentemente? ¿Te visita tan seguido que se ha convertido en parte de tu familia? Iré más lejos. ¿Alguna vez conociste a su mamá? ¿Cómo es ella? ¿Tienes su número de teléfono? Si no es así, es: 1-800-ROSARY. ¿La llamas una vez a la semana… todos los días? ¿Alguna vez llega a visitarnos? ¿Dejas que te ame como si fueras su propio hijo? ¿Has dejado que te adopte? ¿Alguna vez conociste a sus papás? ¿Ambos? ¿Ha conocido a alguno de los hermanos de Jesús? ¡Todos son adoptados! Aún más. ¿Conoces a Jesús desde hace algún tiempo? ¿Cómo fue que los dos se conocieron? ¿Es todavía temprano en la relación o las co-sas se están poniendo serias? ¿Lo has lastimado alguna vez? Cuando se disculpó, ¿Cómo respondió? ¿Hay alguna dificultad? ¿Cómo los solucionas? ¿Te has enamorado de él? La última vez que hablé con Él, se moría por verte. Creo que te ama. Mis hermanos y hermanas en Cristo, Jesús es Dios hecho hombre. Él es completamente divino, pero también es completamente humano y quiere entablar una relación real contigo. Él te ama, personalmente. Todo lo que hizo, lo hizo solo por ti. ¿Cómo le respondes a Él que te ama tanto, especialmente cuando te sientes indigno o incluso incapaz de amarlo a Él? Luego, con paz y sencillez, di: “Jesús, no tengo nada que ofrecerte. Solo puedo decirte lo mucho que quiero amarte ".
