Plan of Correction Another disturbing report about the abortion industry is available for Pennsylvanians. The inspection report for the notorious Philadelphia Women’s Ceter defies the safe and rare mantra. In 2016, there were

5,733 abortions performed at this facility. The inspection report details issues with privacy, safety and sterilization procedures. Once again, the state outlines a “plan of correction”, which does little for the women already impacted by the failures and the loss of a child.

The is no “plan of correction” for abortion, because the industry takes the life of an unborn child while the state allows the evil to

continue. The business of abortion is fundamentally corrupt and ugly and so we are compelled to do what we can to stand against it.

Dear Parishioners,

Re: Church Door Project

A few years ago, we conducted a Heritage of Faith Campaign with our goal to raise funds to support a major parking lot improvement. The parking lot work has been completed. The parish has some residual funds remaining in the Heritage of Faith account; we are planning to withdraw the remaining balance of approximately $30,000 to fund the Church entrance door project. Our plan is to replace six interior doors, glass, and hardware and door actuators and to install new weather stripping and new door actuators on the main exterior entrance doors. I wanted to make all aware of both the project and the funding; and to once again thank all who par-ticipated in the Heritage of Faith Campaign years ago. Thank you.

Sincerely in Christ!

The New Testament Revised Standard Version– Catholic Edition

This is our Dynamic Catholic free parish resource for the month of December. Please stop by our Dynamic Catholic table on Dec 17th in the Vestibule of the church, after the

10:30 mass to get a copy of this New Testament Bible. Want to get to know Jesus, but not sure where to begin? Start with the

New Testament! It’s the best way to discover who Jesus is, how he lived, and what he taught. Reading the New Testament for even just a

few minutes a day can transform your life in surprising and significant ways. And it’s even more powerful when you use a version

that reads like an engaging novel—like our New Testament Bible. Unlike other Bibles, it does away with the two-column format and

distracting notes in the margins, making it easy to read and hard to put down—it may even become your new favorite chapter book!

Another Side of St. Nicholas

Often remembered for his charity, the saintly bishop staunchly defended the Faith

Michael R. Heinlein

St. Nicholas is remembered for his great charity, especially in the case of anonymously providing

the dowry for three sisters who desired to marry. But did you know that St. Nicholas also is

remembered as a great defender of the Faith?

In a story owed to tradition, St. Nicholas attended the Council of Nicaea in A.D. 325, the council at

which the Church’s bishops investigated the priest Arius’ claims that Jesus was not fully God.

As the story goes, when Arius denounced Jn. 1:1

(in effect claiming that the divine logos had a beginning in time), St. Nicholas became greatly distressed. The saintly bishop, who vehemently

disapproved of Arius’ heresy, rose to the ground and punched the heretic in the face!

The council fathers disapproved of St. Nicholas’ action and had him brought to a holding cell and stripped him of his symbols of office as a bishop.

The next day, St. Nicholas showed up at the council, much to the surprise of the attendees.

When asked why he was present again, St.

Nicholas explained that he was visited the night before by the Lord and his Blessed Mother. They thanked him for his defense of Christ’s divinity and restored to him the symbols of office that disciplinarily had been removed. St. Nicholas,

because of his heroic defense of Christ’s divinity, was vindicated. And the council denounced Arius

a heretic.

While St. Nicholas’ action against Arius was stronger than we might expect, the entirety of the circumstances aren’t known to us. It’s obvious he

was filled with a zeal for the Faith, perhaps a righteous anger at the heresy propagated by Arius.

The example of great charity for which we

remember St. Nicholas, which lends itself to the legend of Santa Claus, cannot be recalled without

remembering his heroic defense of Christ’s divinity. He is a powerful heavenly intercessor who strengthens us by his witness to the importance of

both faith and charity.
