THOUGHTS TO PONDER EVERYDAY STEWARDSHIP RECOGNIZE GOD IN YOUR ORDINARY MOMENTS
Healing Our Blindness
The value of stewardship living is difficult to see unless we are experiencing that way of life for ourselves. You can read 100 Everyday Stewardship reflections and go to church every Sunday, but unless you are actively growing in faith and trying to live a life of generous stewardship, you cannot see the power of such a lifestyle. Like most things, we need direct, purposeful experiences to really understand.
I worked in a stewardship parish for over 20 years, but it was only after I started treating all I have as God’s, and began to actively offer all I am to Him for His glory, that I really got the message. That doesn’t mean I am a perfect steward. Far from it! However, the stress and anxiety that comes with life has greatly diminished because all is in God’s hands. I choose to act more generously than before, which provides me with a sense of fulfillment and joy. How I act towards my family, friends, and even people I meet daily has changed. Now I am more mindful of their presence, and I seek to give them a part of me that just might change their day and bring them a little closer to Christ. I am transforming into a disciple who seeks to use all I have been given to transform all that is around me.
It would be a shame to be blind to the important things for an entire life. Today, consider taking a path of life-changing stewardship. Give it all to God. In the midst of all you have been given, you just might find God in a profound way. You may even find the real person God created you to be. — Tracy Earl Welliver, MTS ©LPi

MASS WITH ANOINTING OF THE SICK
In the Letter of James 5:14 we read, “Is anyone among you sick? He should summon the presbyters of the church, and they should pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord.”
For all from Sacred Heart and St. Bernadette Parishes who are in need of healing there will be an opportunity to receive the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick during the February 8th St. Bernadette Saturday 4:00 pm Mass. You, and a caregiver if needed, are asked to be seated in the front reserved pews. Father will come to you in your pew for the anointing. So we are able to know how many pews to reserve, please phone the office and advise your attendance and if there will a caretaker along with you. If any of the following apply to you please consider receiving the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick:
• When suffering from a serious illness. • Before going in for significant surgery (Removing wisdom teeth is probably not a reason unless a case poses greater than usual complication.)
• Elderly people (age 65 and older) may be anointed if they are in a weakened condition even though no dangerous illness is present. • A person with a chronic, debilitating disease can be anointed (diabetes, serious arthritis, etc.) • When a child is seriously ill or injured and has sufficient “use of reason” to be comforted by the sacrament. • When suffering from a serious mental illness and the person would be strengthened by the sacrament.
NEED A SPECIAL GIFT? St. Patrick's Bookstore & Gifts gives us CASH BACK FOR YOUTH! Just mention you are a parishioner at Saint Bernadette and 10% of your purchase will be donated to our Youth Ministry program. No coupons are necessary, just remember to mention our church when checking out at the register!
FEBRUARY HEAVENLY HALL OF FAME
Joseph of Cupertino is most famous for levitating at prayer. Already as a child, Joseph showed a fondness for prayer. Joseph studied for the priesthood, and though it was very difficult for him, Joseph gained a great deal of knowledge from prayer. He was ordained in 1628.
Joseph’s tendency to levitate during prayer was sometimes a cross; some people came to see this much as they might have gone to a circus sideshow. Joseph’s gift led him to be humble, patient, and obedient, even though at times he was greatly tempted and felt forsaken by God. He fasted and wore iron chains for much of his life.
Joseph was canonized in 1767. In the investigation preceding the canonization, 70 incidents of levitation are recorded. Patron Saint of Air Travelers, Astronauts, & Pilots

READINGS OF THE WEEK
REVISIONS TO OUR MONTHLY HOLY HOUR At both parishes the monthly Holy Hour, as requested by Bishop Richen, has struggled with attendance. The following is being implemented starting in February to hopefully address this concern.
We will have a combined Sacred Heart / St. Bernadette Holy Hour, alternating the location every other month. It will be at Sacred Heart the months of January, March, May, July, September, and November, and at St. Bernadette the months of February, April, June, August, October and December.
At Sacred Heart it will be on the third Friday of the month at 12:30 pm. The move to the third Friday is to not conflict with the First Friday Adoration. At St. Bernadette it will be, as currently scheduled, on the third Saturday of the month following 8:00 am Mass at approximately 8:30 am.
Thus, our first combined Holy Hour will be at St. Bernadette, on Saturday, February 15, at 8:30 am.
Come spend an hour away from the busyness of everyday life to be in prayer, to be in silence, praying to and listening to, experiencing our God!
