During the month of November, from 1 9 THE ALL SOULS NOVENA Nine Holy Masses will be celebrated. If you wish to have your loved ones included in those 9 Holy Masses, please print their names on the envelope with your offering and return them before November 1 st . The names will be read before each Novena Holy Mass and then placed upon the Altar during the Nine Days Novena. Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. Pope Benedict XVI reminds us of the importance of prayers for the dead, especially the offering of Holy Mass for them, so that, once purified, they can come to the beatific vision of God. In helping those who have gone before us to be saved, we will have done the utmost for our own personal salvation as well. Parishes Census This weekend a Mass Attendance Census will be taken in both parishes. HAWICK Grand Christmas Fayre This will be on Saturday 18 th November not long now! There will be Coffee and biscuits from 10 12 noon priced £1.50 and from 12 until 1.30 there will be soup/crusty bread priced £1.50. We will have a raffle, bottle stall, cake/candy, fancy goods, Christmas cards etc. Can we please appeal for bottles for the stall, and for any of the above, there will be a hamper in the porch from this Sunday. Please try and sell as many tickets as you can. Thank you Parish Pastoral Council This will held on Wednesday 15 th November in church hall starting at 7.00 pm. This is an open meeting and everyone is very welcome. Request from Aid to the Church in Need: Please join in the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church 19 November; Wear a distinctive item of red clothing- a symbol of the innocent victims of religious persecution 22 November; Commit to one minute of prayerful reflection at midday 22November; Pass-keepers Could we please appeal for people to join our list of pass-keepers, no experience required, there will be a list of duties provided. Bookstall 2018 Diaries/Christmas cards are available now in the Bookstall. Church Cleaning This will be on Monday 6th November from 6.30 – 7.30pm If you could come along and help it would be much appreciated. Friendship Club This will be on Tuesday 14th November from 1.30 – 3.30pm. This will be a ‘Scottish Afternoon’ come along and bring a friend.

SELKIRK

New toilet project Today we launch a Survey/Petition in support of our plans for new toilet facilities. We are hoping to attract support from as many parishioners, hall users, members of the local community as possible, who are familiar with the unsuitability of our facilities. We intend to use this petition to influence both potential funders and members of the Diocesan Trustees to lend their support to this project. Forms are in the porch and if you did not sign it on the way into church, I urge you to stop and sign it on your way out. ‘Jesus and Me’ – Churches Together children’s lunch club which takes place during term at Knowepark School on Wednesdays 12.15pm – 1.15pm. Volunteers needed to help run the club in a variety of ways. See Sue Cook for more info. Churches Together in Selkirk Help is needed with Our Lady and St Joseph's contribution to the Churches Together in Selkirk and the Valleys United Service which takes place in the Victoria Halls at 10.30am on Sunday November 5th. If you can help with coffees or greet people at the door let Sue know a.s.a.p. Your help will be greatly appreciated. Senior Citizens Christmas Lunch Friday 8th Dec commencing at 11.30 am with carols in the Church.

Forms are at the back of church for your name and number in your party together with your selection of meal. Please complete as soon as possible, space is limited to approx. 40.

Pilgrimage to Rome – October 2018 Please see the poster on the notice board. This is a special pilgrimage for educators to mark the centenary of the 1918 Education Act. Job Club The next course runs every Tuesday to 21st November at Elim Community Church, Fairhurst Drive, Hawick. (Nine sessions in all) Time 10:00 am to approx 2:00 pm. A light lunch will be provided. We plan to have a celebration on Tuesday 28 November for all who have attended. There is still a need for 2 more people to act as befrienders to encourage club members at the courses.
