FIRST YEAR CENTER1

WELCOME JANUARY PROGRAM STUDENTS!Welcome to Washington University! We look forward to hearing about the experiences you’ve had before coming to campus and hope you are eager to share them with us. As you begin your full-time studies at Washington University, the First Year Center is here to help make your transition into the Washington University community as easy as possible.

We also understand you will arrive on campus in January when most other students are still away on break. We have planned a schedule that gives you pertinent information and offers opportuni-ties to spend time with other Wash U students. Upperclass January Program students, the First Year Center Executive Board, and current transfer students will serve as ambassadors during your spring orientation. Please feel free to ask these students questions about Wash U and their experiences here.

Your orientation experience will be comprised of events related to your undergraduate school and programs designed for all January Program students. Please pay particular attention to MANDATORY EVENTS as they may pertain to advising and registration.

Make note of the events specifically for January Program students, such as the January Program Winter Welcome Dinner, Real WUrld Panel Discussion, and Meet the JProg Community event. These events were designed specifically with January Program students in mind. Some events are required, while others are optional; however, we strongly encourage you to participate in all programs in order to make the most of your Washington University orientation experience!

The most important thing to remember during orientation is that you are not alone in this new experience. Everyone on campus is excited to help you learn all you need to know about being a student at Washington University, so don’t ever hesitate to ask questions as you begin to discover your place in the Washington University community!

Welcome to Washington University, we’re glad you’re here!

Legend:Throughout the schedule, the use of blue text is used to indicate that the program is a mandatory event and attendance is required.

We are very excited to welcome you to the Washington University community!
