Excellence in Scholarship
• Children at the ages of three(PK3), four(PK4) and five(Kinder)are capable of tremendous intellectual growth when they are exposed to a language and stimulus-rich environment. MDA believes that time spent at school in an organized, colorful, stimulating and caring environment is the best educational experience you can provide children.
THREE (PK3) HWT
• Get Set for School is a curriculum that includes three complete programs designed to prepare children for school: Readiness & Writing, Language & Literacy, and Numbers & Math. Our developmentally appropriate programs complement and expand your existing Pre-K program. Energize your classroom with our proven strategies:
• Multisensory approach that addresses different learning styles• Developmental progression that builds on what children already
know• Friendly voice that connects with children• Engaging lessons that invite active participation

Jolly Phonics Pre K4 and K• What is Jolly Phonics?• Jolly Phonics is a fun and child centered approach to teaching literacy. With
actions for each of the 42 letter sounds, the multi-sensory method is very motivating for children and teachers, who can see their students achieve.
• The sounds are taught in a specific order (not alphabetically). This enables children to begin building words as early as possible.
• How does Jolly Phonics work?• Using a synthetic phonics approach, Jolly Phonics teaches children the five key
skills for reading and writing. Complemented by Jolly Readers and Jolly Grammar, it provides a thorough foundation for teaching literacy.

Math
• Math Facts are a major focus for Pre - K and K• We begin the school year with a concrete approach to math facts with
many hands-on activities.• We use Touch Math, Every Day Counts Calendar and Singapore Math.• All of the programs are multisensory. At this early age, children learn best
when their educational experiences combine play with academics.
Penmanship
• We will be working on correct letter and numeral formation during the entire school year.
• We use manuscript.• Students are writing on lined paper in 1st grade.• We also work on spacing letters and words
appropriately.• Proper pencil grip is important.
Judaic Studies
• Jewish Early childhood education provides a strong foundation for lifelong Jewish engagement for children and families. Students in PK and Kindergarten will discover our holiday traditions, build Jewish identity, and reinforce developmental skills through hands-on learning, songs, movement and imaginative play. We will help children make connections to the stories, concepts and values of each Jewish holiday.
Hebrew
• We will engage children in learning Hebrew vocabulary and practicing speaking the language. Our goal is for children to build phrases so they will be able to interact in short conversations. We look to enrich the children's knowledge if Hebrew through song, dance, and imaginative play.
Reading
• Reading is a huge focus in MDA. Students should be able to retell stories in their own words and pick out story elements (setting, plot, characters, etc.)
• We work in strategies on how a child build reading fluency and identify unknown words.
• We start from Pre K 3…...
WHY MDA?• Magen David Academy provides the schooling experiences that parents seek to give their children
during these early years and the strong educational foundation that will carry them successfully into the future.
• We believe that a full Jewish and general education is the birthright of every Jewish child. We foster in our students a strong connection to the state of Israel and an active involvement in helping others.
• • MDA is a school of excellence with a dedicated leadership which seeks to utilize the most innovative methodology and technology to make learning exciting and relevant.
• • MDA strives to attract and retain a dedicated and effective faculty.• • MDA strives to develop a partnership with parents in order to foster student’s individual growth
and personal achievement.• • MDA believes that it is important to start early with a rigorous and language-rich academic
program that will stretch children to become the best that they are capable of becoming.
