AVID College Readiness System Even though your child is only in elementary school, Osceola

teachers and staff are preparing them for college. Elementary

school is the time where the fundamentals of learning, academic,

study, and behavioral skills are taught. As your child progresses

through Osceola, they will continuously be taught using the AVID

philosophy. Your student has the opportunity to continue as an

AVID student in middle and high school as well.

There is a reason why we are stressing college readiness at

such a young age. By the year 2020, two-thirds of all jobs

will need some amount of post-secondary school. We are

teaching your children the foundations that they need for

college, but also providing them with skills they will need to

have successful careers. With skills like time management,

organization, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem

solving taught early on, we are confident that our students

will be prepared to enter the workforce.
