Spring Break Culture

Panama City Beach, Florida

Page 2: Spring Break Culture

Panama City Beach, Florida is notorious for its crazy, spring break party atmosphere.

Throughout my stay in PCB I attempted to capture the spring break culture which is unique to a college party destination.

In this photo essay, you may notice both the positive and negative outcomes of alcohol consumption and excessive partying.

20 friends, seven days, and one beach house in Panama

City Beach.

All of the alcohol that was

purchased between 20

college students, in preparation for

spring break in PCB.

Preparing “greenies,” an alcoholic drink that

originated in Minneapolis, MN.

Page 6: Spring Break Culture

College students ‘shot-gunning’ beers the first morning of the spring break trip. Shot-gunning a beer means poking a hole in the can before opening it, in order to chug the beer more quickly.

A young man is shown throwing up after

shot-gunning a beer.

The warm weather and sandy beaches

of Florida are a refreshing change of scenery from

the snow and wind of Fargo, ND.

The young man to the right is pictured with the address of the beach house written

on his chest, in case he cannot remember it after

he has been drinking.

A heart to heart conversation is captured between these

three roommates.

Two friends are shown snuggling

the morning after a hard night of

partying.

messages written in marker after passing

out early from drinking too much

Two friends enjoy drinking discounted

beer in a German bar. The bars in PCB had many deals for

spring breakers.

Page 14: Spring Break Culture

One of the friends was kicked out of the bar after attempting to dance on a table.

Page 15: Spring Break Culture

Two friends play beer pong on the beach using a

homemade beer pong table constructed from

sand.

Page 16: Spring Break Culture

Keystone light is a popular beer amongst college students. This is mostly due to the low purchase price.

A young man is shown relieving himself in the women’s restroom as a young lady snaps a

photo.

Page 18: Spring Break Culture

The results of an alcohol-

induced fight between two members of the beach house. The

fight resulted in one

member being sent to the hospital. The fight was a direct result of excessive

alcohol consumption.

A sheriff patrols the beach during spring

break in order to ensure spring breakers are

being safe.

The sheriff took pictures with some of the college students.

Located a few miles down the beach was

the main spring break party scene. There

were people as far as you could see.

Driving home on the 25 hour car ride while wearing a hat labeled “wasted.” This goes to

show that the ‘anything goes’

attitude of spring break does not transfer

well into the real world.
