Principal’s Message for October

Dear Sollers Point Technical Families,

Grade Reporting:

We have completed the first quarter of instruction and are eagerly looking

forward to what our students will learn, produce and achieve during the sec-

ond quarter. BCPS will distribute report cards on Thursday, November 16.

As I shared in August, our goal is to provide students with multiple opportu-

nities to demonstrate mastery of grade –level or course standards during

each quarter of instruction. We believe that every student who attends Sol-

lers Point can be successful in their academic and technical program clas-

ses.

American Education Week:

November is a great month to visit Sollers Point Technical High School.

American Education Week is our annual opportunity to celebrate public ed-

ucation and honor individuals who are making a difference in ensuring that

every child receives a quality education. I encourage each of you to visit a

9th grade classroom or CTE magnet program in order to get a glimpse of

what happens at Sollers Point on a regular basis. Program details and

dates are listed inside this edition of the newsletter.

School Improvement Process:

Each year, we revisit our mission and vision to ensure we are on the path of continuous improvement. This sum-

mer we examined our Vision & Mission statements to ensure faculty, staff, and administration were doing every-

thing in our power to improve instruction, assessment and learning at Sollers Point. Our school is proud to share

that 66% of our eligible students achieved at least 1 certification or license last year and 93.2% of our students

completed their CTE program of study with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher.

You can help us achieve our mission and vision by ensuring that your son or daughter is meeting or exceeding

the state-mandated 94% attendance standard. This works out to less than 3 absences per quarter.

VISION:

Sollers Point will provide authentic and rigorous instruction in order to develop students who are career and col-

lege ready.

MISSION:

Every Sollers Point Technical high school student will complete a career and technical program and earn an in-

dustry certification or license.
