About the courseIf you’re interested in areas such as sportcoaching, sport development and sportmanagement, then this course is anexcellent choice for you. Enhancing youremployability through work placementsand internship opportunities is a key partof this course. You’ll be assigned yourown personal tutor to support youcontinuously and help structure yourpersonal development and careerplanning.
How you’ll learnYou’ll learn through lectures, seminars,practicals and technology enhancedinnovations. You’ll be involved in coachingsessions, management case studies andcommunity sport development work.You’ll be assessed on your knowledge,applied practical and research skills,which will all take place in our newspecialised facilities.
Your careerThis is the start of your career soachieving a good degree and gainingemployability skills along the way are key.Recent graduates have secured jobs incoaching, sport development, the fitnessindustry, sport management or sportmedia and marketing. You could teachphysical education at primary orsecondary level by completing relevantpostgraduate training, or study our MResin Sport and Exercise, to gain skills inteaching and research, with the potentialto progress to PhD level.
Additional informationThere are opportunities to gain NationalGoverning Body coaching awards in arange of sports that will develop yourconfidence, leadership skills andemployability. You’ll also benefit frommasterclass sessions from sport andexercise professionals about theirexperiences and career development. Youcan test and measure health and fitnessand utilise computer software packagesto analyse the results of performance inour new labs. You can also get involvedwith Team Derby which covers ourcourses, sports clubs, facilities and theAthletics Union.
What you’ll coverYou can combine Sport and ExerciseStudies with one or even two othersubjects that are offered here at our DerbyCampus to create your own joint honoursdegree. Popular combinations includeDance and Movement Studies, EducationStudies, Psychology, Criminology, Mathsand Business Management. The modulesyou’ll study will depend on how youdecide to combine the subjects youchoose.
Where you will study: Derby Campus – Kedleston Road site.
Entry requirements: Academic – 260-300 UCAS tariff pointsfrom your International Baccalaureate orequivalent qualification.

Duration: 3 years full time
Course fees: It depends what subject you combineSport and Exercise Studies with. If youcombine it with a classroom-basedsubject, it will cost £9,945 per year*. If youcombine it with a resource-intensivesubject or a specialist subject it will cost£10,225 per year*.
