Technical criteria

Characteristics:

PYTHON Power 9 R is constructed from a total of up to 358 single wires compared to 265 single wires in traditional 6x36 wire rope. This results in a super strong yet super flexible rope.

Although Power 9 R is our most successful high strength rope construction, there are precautions we must address before you select this rope. One is that the direction of lay which must correspond to drum grooving; the other is that large fleet angles may cause high strands or core protrusion because the rope will roll rather than glide into the sheave groove. Any introduction of torque into (any) wire rope will cause structural damages.

Fields of application:

Super high strength yet super flexible overhead crane wire rope. Used as original equipment rope and for crane capacity upgrades. Also used as high strength engineered assembly cable for tension applications. Type V has little to no initial constructional stretch.

Technical criteria

Seilcharakteristik:

PYTHON Power 9 S is swage compacted to enhance the abrasion characteristic and to reduce sheave- and drum wear. Type Power 9 S in combination with EEIPS (2160 N/mm) wire tensile grades increases rope strength of up to about 50% over regular strength 6-strand types.

Power 9 S is constructed from a total of up to 358 single wires compared to 265 single wires in traditional 6x36 wire rope. This results in a super strong yet super flexible rope.

Although Power 9 S is our most successful high strength rope construction, there are precautions we must address before you select this rope. One is that the direction of lay which must correspond to drum grooving; the other is that large fleet angles may cause high strands or core protrusion because the rope will roll rather than glide into the sheave groove. Technical criteria

Characteristics:

PYTHON Ultra S, as a modification of Ultra R, is a swage compacted double parallel all-steel rope. 26 strands with up to 362 wires combine high strength with high flexibility: depending on type, Ultra R can achieve up to 55% higher breaking loads than conventional 6x36 constructions.

Ten outer strands distribute the load pressures more equally thus reducing wear of the rope and your equipment. Swage compaction further adds to this effect as it applies an almost circular cross section to the rope. It also reduces rapid wire destruction in crossover areas on multi-layered drums. Ultra S has very little to no constructional stretch.

The double parallel design avoids any wire and strand cross-overs. Therefore, Ultra S is less prone to premature core failure.

Ultra S is produced as a 10x19 Seale construction for diameters up to 20 mm, beyond as a 10x25 Filler construction.

Fields of application:

PYTHON Ultra S is recommended as luffing/pendant rope, extension/retraction rope, trolley rope as well as hoisting rope for overhead cranes.

Technical criteria

Characteristics:

PYTHON Multi is a ten strand High Performance Wire Rope with a plastic coated core. The reverse laid core provides spin resistance, helping to reduce unwanted block twisting on overhead cranes.

Multi is less sensitive to wrong drum grooving, making it the ideal choice for cranes where both rope ends are attached to the drum. Compared to six-strand ropes, Multi has increased service life in many cases up to five times and more.

Ten outer strands distribute the load pressures more equally thus reducing wear of the rope and your equipment. Swage calibration further adds to this effect as it applies an almost circular cross section to the rope, providing smooth running properties. It also reduces rapid wire destruction in crossover areas on multi-layered drums. Multi has only minor constructional stretch.

Fields of application:

10-strand high performance wire rope for overhead cranes as well as some truck- and container cranes. Special spin-resistant feature prevents much of the unwanted block twisting on overhead cranes.

Technical criteria

Characteristics:

PYTHON Lift is a multi-layer non-rotating rope with 15 outer strands for highest breaking load requirements: in comparison to a 19x7 class rope, the gain in strength is an astonishing 60%. With only 5 outer wires per strand, it provides excellent abrasion resistance.

Swage compaction applies an almost circular cross section to the rope and contributes to high running smoothness and proper pressure distribution on sheave and drum. It also reduces rapid wire destruction in crossover areas on multi-layered drums. Lift has very little to no constructional stretch.

During production, several aluminum wires are used as buffers within each strand. After production, some splints might remain on the rope’s surface. This is no reason for concern as they have neither load bearing nor any other function while the rope is in service.

Fields of application:

PYTHON Lift is recommended as main and auxiliary hoist line for tower cranes, construction cranes and mobile (lattice boom) cranes.

We do not recommended this rope to be used on smooth drums. It works best on LEBUS drums with appropriately sized pitch.

Characteristics:

PYTHON Hoist is a compacted rope with superior non-rotating properties. 17 outer strands provide high resistance against drum and sheave pressure. The plastic coated core effectively prevents premature failure of the rope core and thus improves the rope’s service life. “Hoist” can be used in applications with high dynamic load conditions.

“Hoist” is designed as “Hoist S” (swaged version) and “Hoist C” (strand compacted version). Choice of design is subject to customer’s application and preferences. Please call for advice.

Fields of application:

PYTHON Hoist C/S is recommended as a medium to high strength hoist rope for ship-, deck- and harbour cranes, tower cranes, mobil cranes and offshore cranes, in particular for multilayer spooling applications.

Technical criteria

Characteristics:

PYTHON Super 8 C is a strand compacted rope with a plastic coated core. It features excellent bending behaviour while providing highest breaking strength. Super 8 C is designed as a Filler-construction for diameters up to 24 mm. Beyond, it is manufactured as a Warrington-Seale construction. The reduction by two outer wires per strand allows for thicker wires with higher abrasion resistance. In combination with an in-house developed graphite lubrication, Super 8 C provides an increased service life over other ropes of the Super-Series.

Characteristics:

PYTHON Super 8 PC is a strand compacted rope with two plastic coatings. One coating protects the IWRC’s core from its outer strands, while the second coating avoids direct contact between IWRC and outer strands. Since all layers of the rope are protected, the graphite lubricant cannot leak. Both effects almost completely avoid premature core failure.

Using ropes in maritime environments such as container bridges calls for robust properties. Super 8 PC’s Warrington–Seale construction allows reducing from twelve to ten outer wires (in comparison to a Filler construction) and therefore the usage of higher wire diameters in production. In combination with strand compaction and an in-house developed graphite lubrication, this rope provides a very high service life.

Super 8 PC is available from 28 to 40 mm diameter.

PYTHON Flameshield 8 is an 8-strand High Performance Wire Rope with high temperature resistant outer wires. These wires are different from normal wires with respect to both material and production process. The lubricant applied to Flameshield is not prone to dripping and coking. This plus a a very flexible core provide a long service life under high temperature working conditions.

Anwendungsbreiche:

PYTHON Flameshield 8 is a hoist rope dedicated for cranes operating in high temperature environments. A usual example are steel mills where parts of the rope are exposed to the furnace’s or converter’s flames during batching. Here,temperatures of 800° C and more can be easily achieved. Despite the rope cooling down to room temperature after this process, heat remains within the drum’s vicinity. Examinations of wires from this area show a gradual deterioration of relevant wire values. In standard wire ropes, frequent temperature fluctuations cause embrittlement of the wires, resulting in a reduced service life. For this reason, Flameshield uses high temperature resistant outer wires.

Characteristics:

PYTHON Compac 35 is a non-rotating 35x7 class rope. For highest breaking load requirements, both inner and outer strands are made in a strand compacted design. 16 outer and 19 inner strands provide optimal balance of torque factors and grant excellent non-rotating properties. Depending on diameter (20-120 mm) and breaking load requirements, Compac 35 is manufactured as 35x7 Seale, 35x17 (35x19) Seale, 35x26 Warrington or 35x31 Warrington Seale.

Both strand compaction and availability in Lang’s lay design make Compac 35 the preferred choice for multi-layer spooling applications, especially for large lengths. On request, Compac 35 is available as an uncompacted version named Classic 35.

Fields of applications:

PYTHON Compac 35 is recommended as auxiliary and main hoist line for all kinds of cranes with requirements for highest breaking loads and superior non-rotating properties.
