• reqUirementS: Create a unique style within each housing block establishing a variety of character for the community as a whole. Use the canal to promote reduc-ing, reusing, and recycling. Create various nodes eliminating pedestrian congestion
• i was required to mimic/ study site plans multiple times each week. this gave me an understanding of cur-rent urban design in China. the photo shows are examples of the types of ur-ban design i would study.

worked with the design team from the preliminary concept phase to the final printing of the plan. Although my ideas were not selected for the final plan, i was able to gain an in depth understanding of Chinese urban planning/ design from start to finish.

Alternative fuel source, wind energySolid waste/ sanitation management
Dhaka, Bangladesh Chennai, India
• Class intent: to do theoretical energy planning using real statistics from Dhaka, bangladesh.
• goal of the project was to increase energy supply in Dhaka by exploring alter-ative options.
• option selected: i chose wind which required in depth research of current en-ergy use, population growth, industry demand, infrastructure, land use and other various relations. based on the three months of research, i have concluded wind energy is not a viable option for Dhaka as the amount of energy offered does not reflect the high cost of implementation.
energy Planning in Foreign and Developing Countries • Class intent: Plan for solid waste/ sani-
tation management in a developing country.
• goal: Plan for efficient management at reasonable cost.
• Approach: Study cities similar in size and development. take successful methods from other cities and see if they are applicable to Chennai
• results: efficient management comes with organized ngos working with the lower class citizens to create a new work force. the techniques the work force uses stem from Shanghai’s man-agement system.

Personal : DIY Urbanism campaign
nauto (means not auto) is a D.i.Y urbanism campaign that originated from a D.i.Y urbanism competition hosted by the University of Cincinnati and local architecture firm. A partner and myself created/ head the campaign. nauto promotes sustainabiltiy through utilizing any means of transportation other than the automobile. the images shown here is phase one of the campaign, which also doubled as the sub-mission for the D.i.Y. Urbanism competition. Phase one was a promotion of sustain ability via walkability, bringing public attention to under utilized city staircases that connect Cincinnati’s two major central business districts. there are currently two more phases in progress that bring attention to the use of public transit and bike lane awareness. the winners of the competition have not yet been released.
