Do you have someone on your

Christmas shopping list, who is

so hard to buy a present for

because they seem to have

everything? You may even ask

them what they might like and

they have nothing to add to

your list.

You could buy them a

gold-plated bottle opener, or a

singing keychain, or something

‘practical like that! You could

visit Spencer’s gifts or some

other novelty site for

something ‘unique’ but then

wonder, “What good is that

gift?”

This year for the Christmas

season, the sermon series in

James on “Practical

Christianity” will continue.

These practical sermons will

be gifts you could give one

another and the Lord this year

(and all year round).

Other practical gifts you may

consider giving the Lord (that

I’ve mentioned this year):

Quiet times, Bible

reading, ministry

through a position in

the church, helping

your neighbor in

some way, offering

to pray for people

and doing so, etc….

(by now you’re getting

the idea that a practical

gift is more valuable

than a singing keychain!)

Christmas is a ‘most

wonderful time of the year’.

Christmas programs at school

and church, Christmas

shopping, Christmas parties

and activities are wonderful

and joyous times. However,

if you’re too busy for Jesus

and spiritual worship and

growth, you’re too busy! So

be sure to stay focused on

“THE REAL REASON FOR

People are more open to talk-

ing about spiritual things

during this season too. So,

December 2011 Verse of the Month

But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son,

born of a woman, born under law, to redeem those

under law, that we might receive the full rights of

sons.– Galatians 4:4-5

Page 4 SOUTHRIDGE FOCUS

Merry Christmas!

God’s richest blessings on you

And your family during this season

Come listen to The Southridge Worship Choir as they sing at “Living Windows”

Downtown (Madison and High Streets) on December 2nd

starting at 6 pm,

or join us at the Jefferson City Nursing Rehabilitation Center on December 11th

starting at 3:30 pm, and I hope you will invite a neighbor or friend to attend our

program at the church on December 18th

at 6:30 pm

See the Puppets/Mime Team as they share the Christ child Story on December 4th

at 6:30. We are very thankful for this ministry and the opportunities it gives for our

young people to learn the work and energy needed to make each program

successful.

Our Children’s Musical is entitled “Saints and Angels Song” and I could tell you what it’s all

about , but if I did that then you might not think you needed to come. We enjoy our children

singing for us and reminding us the real reason to celebrate, come hear them on December

11th

at 6:30.

One highlight for many from Southridge is our Christmas Eve candlelight Service. Since

December 24th

falls on a weekend (Saturday) our time will begin at 5:00 p.m. that night.

Hope to see you there.

Christmas can be what you make it. It could just be another day

on the calendar. I hope and pray it is not for you. My prayer is

that it will be a special time for you to remember how much God

loved and loves you.

Here’s the schedule for this

month:

1st week: Joelle Lemongelli 2nd week: Anthony Adrian

3rd week: All Jr. High Students 4th week: All Sr. High Students

Looking Back • In November on Wednesday nights we spent some time

talking about some other religions beliefs. The three specific

ones we covered were Mormons, Jehovah’s Witness, and

New Age. We did a brief over view of what they believe and

mentioned how they do not line up with the Bible and

Christianity. Along with that, we spent some time talking

about what it means to be kind, be good, and be gentle.

• The last Wednesday night we are doing a Random Act of

Kindness for the hospitals in Jefferson City. We will put

together little goodie bags to give to patients in each

hospital’s emergency room. Along with doing these goodie

bags we will have some games and a snack for the students.
