2015 Focus Ver se
Jude and I recently attended church (while on vacation) and commented about the welcome we received at that church. There were some 200 people in attendance (at the early service) and other than the motorcyclist in the parking lot (you’d expect us to talk with him) and the greeter at the door (“good morning”) and the “HI” during the welcome time while shaking hands – no one else spoke to us. We both said how we don’t want anyone to have that little interaction with people at Southridge. I believe, and hope we always will do a lot better at making people feel at home. Here are some reminders: If you see someone you
don’t know, introduce yourself – whether it’s in the parking lot, hallway or bathroom.
As you introduce
yourself, ask if they are
a guest, & help with directions, etc. Say “Hello” and smile and shake hands – touch makes a person feel at home.
Invite them to the fellowship time for a bottle of water, coffee or snack. When you enter the worship cen-ter, look for guests before you go to your “seat” and visit with them even before you sit down.
I’m hoping that before the FORMAL GREETING TIME, that every guest has already had 3-5 handshakes. That will help them feel welcome!!!
Later this month, Jude and I will be attending the Timothy-Barnabas School (Sept. 23-25) in Branson, thanks to your generosity. While we were on vacation in May, you surprised us by taking up a collection and paying for the registration at the conference and room at the Chateau on the Lake. Those 3 days and 2 nights are designed for encouragement and refreshment from one of my heroes in the faith – Dr. Johnny Hunt. Thank you – we are surprised and honored at your generosity and care for us! AWANA starts in September and we enter into a new season of ministering to families and children. It’s going to be exciting to see what God has in store for us this year. Your help is needed as we touch lives – I have every reason to believe we’ll step up to the challenge. I love you and love being your pastor. Let’s link arms and imagine “what could God do if……” Pastor Ron

The mission of the JC Champions Mentoring Program is to encourage and support our students through positive
one-on-one relationships.
A mentor is a trained adult who, along with parents, provides a young person with support, counsel, friendship, reinforcement, and constructive example.
The program takes place exclusively during the school day in 20 to 40 minutes sessions.
Mentors are good listeners, people who care, people who want to help young people bring out strengths that are already there.
A mentor is not a foster parent, doctor, social worker, disciplinarian, tutor, cool peer, or ATM.
JCPS will provide you with training, support, & guidance throughout each step in your mentoring relationship.
To MENTOR can 659-3234 or 659-3488 To TUTOR call ABLE at 636-5558.
Answer these questions...
If you had an emergency tomorrow could you pay
for it without going into debt?
Do you KNOW you have enough to retire when you want to?
Do you know where every dollar of your last paycheck went?
Are you handling God's blessings,
God's way and for His glory?
If you answered "NO" to any of these questions,
Financial Peace University is for you!

September 2015
Sometimes to be moldable requires us to endure the pain of being shaped by the Master allow Him to use us in the way he sees best. Which, at times, is difficult to let go and give Him the room he needs to “rework” us
Since our Christmas Kickoff we have had two rehearsals and after the church
picnic and Labor Day holidays we will start up again on September 13 at 5:00.
Part CDs are available to assist in the learning process Wednesday practices
continue to be on hold while Reuben is working with the Youth Group.
We have enjoyed having Will West join us on Sunday mornings to help out on
the drums when he is available.
Some folks in our church went to the Casting Crowns and I am They concert at
the state fair last month.
If you enjoy listening to a good concert: On September 20 at Moberly Area
Community College the following groups will be sharing: Big Daddy Weave,
Jason Gray, Citizen Way for $20 prior to concert day and $25 at the door. The

SYATP
SYATP looks weird—it’s an acronym for See You At the Pole
The theme verse for this year is They all met together and were
constantly UNITED in prayer. —Acts 1:14
The date is Wednesday, September 23, 2015
There are two opportunities to unite in prayer with your friends:
DAY: SEE YOU AT THE POLE day is on Wednesday, September 23, at 7:00 a.m.
local time. All around the globe, in every time zone, students will be gathering at
their flagpoles, praying for their school, friends, families, churches, and communi-
ties. SEE YOU AT THE POLE is a day committed to global unity in Christ and
prayer for your generation.
WEEK: The GLOBAL WEEK OF STUDENT PRAYER (Sunday, September 20
through Saturday, September 26) encourages students to find new and unique
ways, places, and times to pray throughout the week. Whether you attend PUBLIC
SCHOOL, PRIVATE SCHOOL, or HOME SCHOOL, gather your friends wherever
and whenever and pray! The GLOBAL WEEK OF STUDENT PRAYER is dedicat-
ed to prayer and launching your on-campus Bible clubs, prayer strategies, and
student ministries.
5th Quarter Opportunities
9/11, 10/2, 9, 16
October 9th will be Capture the Flag at the church
If your family would like to host a time of fellowship after
the game on either September 11, or October 2 or 16

host

THE EMBASSY When talking with our youth one night we spoke of how we are representatives of
Christ while we were at church at when we are not. The question that is still to be
determined is whether you are presenting a good representation of Christ or a
poor one. That just like the U.S. has ambassadors all around the world, we are
called to be ambassadors for Christ. And once a week , we meet to make deci-
sions as to how we can represent Him better.
WEDNESDAY NIGHTS—GROWING IN GOD’S WORD
Hope you won’t miss out on opportunities to find out things
in the Bible that can help each of us face the things
that life throws our way
Do you know? How many people were on Noah’s Ark?
