Red HollowAn hour and a half from Cedar City

Fees: FreeDifficulty: EasyLength: 1.2 miles round trip

The Trail: The trails takes you up a sandy wash through majestic red and white canyon walls, that gradually narrow and lead to a short, colorful, slot canyon for about 100 yards before a dry fall stops progress.

Taylor Creek TrailTwenty minutes from Cedar City

Fees: Entrance fee to Kolb CanyonDifficulty: ModerateLength: 5 miles round trip

The Trail: This is a very scenic and not too difficult hike. The trail follows the Creek for approxi-mately 3 miles until you end up at some very beautiful arches. You will cross the stream about 60 times, as you hike up the canyon.

Spectra Point TrailForty minutes from Cedar City

Fees: $6 entrance fee to Cedar Breaks National MonumentDifficulty: ModerateLength: 2 miles round trip

The Trail: Spectra Point Trail is a 2-mile round trip hike along the rim of Cedar Breaks amphitheater. It features beautiful wild flowers and a number of activity options. It is best used from March until October.

Challenge will run from May 15th to August 15th. Partici-

pants will be required to complete

5 hikes of their choosing in order to receive the $50 incentive.

Only benefit-eligible employees qualify. The 10

Rattlesnake CreekFourteen minutes from Cedar City

Fees: FreeDifficulty: Moderate Length: 11.7 miles round trip

The Trail: Rattlesnake Creek - Ashdown Gorge Trail is a moderately trafficked point-to-point trail that features a river. The trail is primarily used for hiking. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

The Trail: Spring Creek Canyon is an out and back trail and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is best used from April until November. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Bartizan Arch TrailForty-five minutes from Cedar City

The Trail: Bartizan Arch Trail is a moderately trafficked out and back trail that features beautiful wild flowers and the shooting star waterfall. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and birding and is best used from March until October.

Cascade Falls Fifty minutes from Cedar City

Fees: noneDifficulty: EasyLength: 1 mile round trip

The Trail: This short trail is perfect for an afternoon adventure or a family hike. The trail goes along the edge of the Virgin River Valley, overlooking Zion in the distance. Starting in forest and heading out onto the rim, the trail is relatively flat, though there is a steep drop off to one side. The waterfall ranges from a trickle to a small waterfall depending on the season. Best used May to October.

ThunderBird GardensIn Cedar City

Fees: noneDifficulty: EasyLength: 1.6 mile round trip

The Trail: This is a great hike if you want a quick jaunt. The trail takes some switchbacks that lead to a summit where there is a great view of Cedar City. There is a little slot canyon on the trail where some boldering or even repelling would be optional. Very pretty.

C TrailIn Cedar City

Fees: FreeDifficulty: DifficultLength: 7.8 miles round trip

The Trail: The C Trail is a long down-hill trail that winds down the face of Cedar Mountain, which overlooks Cedar City and borders Dixie National Forest. It is locally known for being a challenging mountain biking trail with a bunch of tight switchbacks, but it also serves as a scenic but strenuous hiking trail.

Timber Creek Overlook TrailThirty minutes from Cedar City

Fees: FreeDifficulty: ModerateLength: 1.2 miles round trip

The Trail: The relatively flat Timber Creek Overlook Trail follows along a small ridge with spectacular views of the Kolob Canyons. Timber Creek Overlook Trial is covered in a beauti-ful display of desert wildflowers. You may see rare colorful collared lizards along the trail. Parking is ample at the trailhead along with picnic tables and bathroom facilities.
