The Friends of the Foundation is a celebration to show support for the Educa-

tional Foundation and its efforts of enriching the lives of South St. Paul stu-

dents. The evening is filled with great food and refreshments, and a live and

silent auction. If you are able to donate an item for our silent auction or need

Scholarship Banquet

Our annual Scholarship Banquet will

be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

Over $300,000 will be awarded to the

2015 graduating seniors.

Reminder: The Educational Foundation’s fiscal year end is June

30, 2015. Any contributions made before that date will be included

in our annual report.

PROGRAMS FUNDED

Reading Buddy Program - The third grade team at Lincoln Center is

organizing a reading buddy program. The foundation was asked for

funding to purchase of reading level books that are unique to this pro-

gram. The funding was provided by the Karla Bester Literary Fund.

“Rekenreks” - The foundation funded the purchase of classroom sets

of “rekenreks” for all of the K-2 teachers, special educations teachers

at the primary level and math interventions teachers in both elementary

schools in SSP. Rekenreks are a wonderful tool to help students build

number sense and problem solve. The purchase was made possible by

the Dawn Vujovich Fund and Nancy Whiteside Fund.

Romeo and Juliet - The foundation provided funding for the 9th grade

Literature Classes to attend the production of Romeo and Juliet at the

Park Square Theatre.

Dodge Nature Center - The Kinder-

gartner teacher requested funding to

take their classes to Dodge Nature

Center for their PYP Unit on animal.

This funding is provided through the

generous contributions of the Garden

Club.

Art Gallery Space - Lincoln Center

art teachers requested funds to create

an Art Gallery space. Funding was

approved to purchase wall panels for

displaying art work. This funding was

provided by the Arts Appreciation

fund.

Skeletons - David Fassler requested on

behalf of the 7th grade science depart-

ment to purchase a set of half-size mod-

el skeletons for classroom use. The

skeletons were funded by the Eric

Hetland fund.
