dreams of the elderit was many years ago when he first cameupon sleep or the entrance to itI would feel him in my heartand catch glimpses of his face

in the beginning he would gently hold my armand in the form of an eagle we would flyacross the lands

the land would change and through his eyes

he could see time before and time to comeroads and buildings were unbuilt before my eyesuntil we would see the home of his people

one day he began to speakvery slowly his words would comeso gently would they roll from his lipshis eyes always smiledand he was a most welcome friend

the story began..."when I was a boy I was one day to be chiefmuch I had to learn in the ways of our peoplefishing, growing, and huntingand many songs of our people

the land was full of people like mewe traded our goods and mostly were peacefulthough we fought from time to timethe land held room for us all

but the plentiful lands of fish and animalswere sometimes contended in blood

we had heard of the raiders to comeand they were not like stories we knewthese were men who took everything

who could buy and sell the land

and would claim all they wanted for themselves

I grew up in the wings of war itselfI rode a strong horseand fast like the wind I traveled

anger upon my heartfearless and proud I rode the plains

my people would follow meas I loved them deeplyand the land we stood upon

was sacred to my tribeit was our ancestors and those before themthat fished the very holes we thrived upon stilland farmed the same groves with seed

that fed the bellies of my people

we sat beside the campfire many nightsafter the fighting beganmany of my people wanted to die hereand fight to make our ancestors proud

it was about this time I began to see timeboth before and time to come through the eagleand I saw these raiders taking our land

and I did not want my people do die

my heart was heavyand I turned to the Great Spirit every dayfor guidance in how my people would be led

my heart was angry stilland hate grew slowly upon the rivers in my faceafter blood and more to come from manyI chose that my people would not fight and live

still a young chiefI wept where we were movedit was not our rivers

we did not know this land like a brotherit felt like a stranger to us

it was about this time I walked many miles every day

to be alone and listen to the windsas the eyes of my people reminded meof the pain I brought to themI found little rest with my tribe

one daythe dreams of the elder came to mehe was an old man like you are seeing meand he could see time unfolding more clearlythan I was able at the time

many tears fell when he camefor I had lost the Great Spiritand the message to my peopleas I too was still angry

the elder showed me in a dreamof all things being eaten by the earthand my memory of our past life

was sacred but those lands toodid fall in time

the hungry and strong seeking poweralways take from the more peacefulbut it took my eyes behind my eyes

to see what they could not take

my tears fell heavy but now they carriedno last wish for a wild bloody ride into the heartof our enemy

my tears carried the songand carried the way of the Great Spiritand for the first time in my lifeI slept in stillness and peace

I awoke with the song still singingthey could not take the wayof my peopleof our people

they could not take the Great Spiritfrom our hearts

lighthouseslike lighthouseslet us be placed on the shoresin which we are called upon

    to shine

let us remember how many timeslost in our travel the small flickerof a brother's light through the fogkept us to shore safely

let me remember today stillon the days of emptinessone would come to know when they see the many fountainsthe city would promise a drink fromyet no longer would we believe it could quench for what we thirst

and for a painful moment we lost the songfrom the light withinthe hurt is like a riptide taking usfrom where we dwell

let me share these wordsare a thank youto a sister who I do not even knowas she stood on the beach shiningI caught a glimpse of her songand even those small words she wrote

were enough to guide me to land

in the thick fogbefore a brother can remember the sun still shineslet us stand as a way to safetyin a dark moment

let me open eyes and walk to the beachsmiling at how many we areplaced where our Father would have us shinehis warmth, love, and peace through us

let us rejoice togetherwe stand not alone

    only in different places

may our light bear witnessto the miracle we upholdit would shine of Him

and the limitless light would only run through us

like lighthouses let us bring our brothers homeand when we are lost let us gladly lookfor those around guiding us to His voice

    shine shine shine

awareness seekingawareness seeks itselflonging through eyes

awareness would read a pagenot considering the face that carried itand see the messagefor what it is

its filter would be so simpleand its keen eyes cut throughglass walls of temporary and too of truthlike they would be butter

awareness yearnsto find itself in anotherand would see it even

    when one sees only shades

awareness would remindand its recognition is enough

sometimes it can feel alonein places where eyes cannot noticeand it breathes again into the very cordthat holds to its creator

that it sometimes would want to shakeand watch the glass walls crumblethat it sometimes would want to rejoiceto hold smiling with a simple hug

it too must be guidedmany know not of itand fear what it may see

sometimes rising like great wavesto shatter a dreamsometimes sitting alone to smile witha simple friend sharing its song

safe we standhow safe we standpassed what was once was faithinto knowing

how firm our memory restsas even the birds would be fedas they follow their heartto sing and to fly

the dream is of an eldersitting by my side at a campfirehis words speaking to me as a boyI only understood a few

but they carried in my heartlike seeds they satone day he traveled onand no longer did I see him

yet his words began to sproutand the memory of his kindnesssoft lines of his years of warthat had turned to the cracks of a smileand the calmness upon his gazeheld me

how safe he stoodin my dream of one who was stillhe stayed with me alwayseven now I still see his smile

the elder is anyonethey are the faceless appearing as a faceit is the message of healing they carry

resting beneath where they standand their lips would speak only of it

blessed was he in my dreamas real of a dream I ever knew

    that too I would someday

pass my war of what I stood forand know only of the rockfrom which these feet are held

    how safe we stand today

thankful for those that carried its memory to usthat we too

would form trace lines of peaceupon our gentle smile

prayer to love's extensionthis is a prayerfor guidance in the extension of love

like a parent holding an infantin the most loving momentslike vines the cords of their love engulfto hold, love, nurture, and smile uponthe little one

sometimes tears formin the beautiful recognition there would be no limitationas to what the parent would giveeven their very life would not even be a questionif it would save that of the child

and after all of thiswe do not know what the child knows of usour very hearts melted on the floor

while the little one just sleepsto breathe and steal the warmthfrom our chest

we need not the experience of having a childfor to some degree at some pointevery one of us has known a parent, lover, or friendin which our hearts extended in a way

we saw our own gentleness and beauty extendingasking in return nothing

and deep down what we sometimes hopeis that we wish they only knew...

when we pray for peace and our Father enters our heartswe can see a brother as He would see him through us

and the soft memory of what he is has not been forgottenthis is a prayer to the extension of our feeling

like the infant cannot understand how much they are lovedour mouths feel mute and the words begin to stick

as we stand before a brother and our memory has been completely healed

and the Father's love comes through uswe stand as a simple yet beautiful linkin the vast chain of His childrenthat would allow for love's entry

our hearts sometimes feel like burstingfor we know not what to saytears well as we look up on one standing exactly where we didnot knowing how much they are lovednot knowing how much they are called upon

and so this may be a prayerfor my and anyone's willingnessagain to remember the answer remains the same in all thingseven to this

let us step back from our thoughtsand ask for guidanceFather what would you have me say, what would have me do

where would you have me go, what would you have me hearyou are all things through meall things within meall things around melet me look through the soft tear

and release the prayer of how youwould have me extend Your offering of love

    Amen

seashellsas we walk along the shorethe soft voice of peace speaks to our heartthis sacred union makes seashells

as reminders of His Kingdomplaced in the sand as we walk

in the beginningwe remember sometimes miles of nothingonly our alone and the fallingin places someday we will stand

we remember crawling across the sandseeking the pages of seashells left by others

wanting and waiting for the reunionof the sweet stillness in the steps we travel

blessed they return againas in shyness we cover their very beauty

with sand so they do not shinenot knowing our true Holiness

we know the voice of peaceyet we know too of its lossand the union is not yetperfect

how beautiful is the daywhere we can only standin the places we once fell

how perfect is our trustthat the union is completeas our Father would guide us

blessed would we walkand how safe would we travelthat only His word could be leftas seashells are but reminders of his love for us

once we could be lostand sought the blessed shells others left for us

that now the world could take every bookand every shell that would be our memory from usyet our Father would fail us notfor our perfect union and trust in His way

    could never be taken

and forever more soft seashellswe lay

the two faces of peaceof peace in the worlda dream born from the dirt and things upon itthat could offer only the same as a solution to its lack

in the form of something of dirt itselfbe it food, shelter, a breath of air, or the warm summer sun

thus lack of peace in the seeming outsidemust require a solutionquested within the bounds of its worldly gardenthat would feed the hungry bodythat would quell the firing gunsas the harsh reality is the solutionis never a guarantee

of peace in our heartresting in the soft closing of our eyes

when time is still and our hearts warmwe see another face of peace

judging not the seeking of it outsidefor here lies the guardian of the gatesto look within

to unveil her face requires nothingfrom anyone or thingoutside of our willing mind

and so the question would arisewhere we look in the mirror and see two facesof which would we dream?

for when we seek peace in the world we can neglectthe face insidelike a child waiting to be held

and too the face of a mother that would hold us

and when we seek the face of peace within our heartwe cannot but extend this to the world as wellas the peace of God runs through us as a mere vesselthat would only release His offeringas the giver of this is equally the receiver

fuel the heartin its most basic divisionthe world of form could be seen as twothe light and the dark

the male and femalethe active and receptive

only God is what cannot be dividedfor the Holy Spirit is whole

for now we are layeredand can see with different eyeslet this be a song ofthe heart seeking itself

as the mind seeks answersnot always knowing its greatest giftis asking the right questionsas frequency will find the correct receptorpages and pages it seeksbut some things are understoodin ways outside of a formula

to the soft mother inside I write thisthat I would seek and receive her beautyinto my heart

unto peace may we soargreat wings stretchedour minds not knowing how we flyyet eyes burning in gratitudefor we do

the songs that our heart can hearmay be our fuel to fly

look to the ocean, the poem, or the smile of a brotherand when we see it we rememberit was always inside of us

seek the places that remind usso we can soar again

my prayer is a reminderanother page of knowledge cannot take me homelike birds we fly northas it is our birthright

let me hear You in my own heartas my fingers pour upon this very page

when I can smile at the words that come outlet this be my fuel to seek You

I hold no bounds of where I will find Youand will see you as best I can in all thingsbut let me hold especially dearthe songs, stories, sea and smilesthat fuel my heart to love

we would fear not our own beautyof the gifts You extend from uslet us not judge our worthinessto sing of You when it is you singingthrough our very heart

for today our smilemay be the fuelfor another brother's

    heart to soar

return to the seaswimming among the currents grasping for airbeginning to spiralhow did I forget so easily

    of the safe place below

it goes against all reasonair is all this part of me knowsstruggling for another breathforgetting again

like a child I gently hear myself saying"silly youdon't you know you can breathein this place"

I remember the song Amazing Graceand remember once not understanding

    what it meant

grace was the place of peacein my soft surrender to aironly to open my gills like a fishthat I could swim and learn another way

grace was the entranceto this once foreign worldand when I am full of its blessingI can return to float guided by the great currentof Spirit

my prayer is to remember what I amthat I would be a fish and not a manswimming in this sometimes harsh sea

that I would close my eyeswhen the storms around meshow me nothing I seek

let me not become afraidonly to flap my arms to graspa quick sip of this

anchorI would take this songthat came from a sacred placeand try to sing it as I felt it

my eyes closed, driftingpast the initial layers of stillnessfirst I was rock, then I was air

like long talons my arms and legsextend out into the dirt and sky around meto hold me in placebut there is no place anymorethere is only God and His aspects

like a river His peace rushes through meextending into all that I could touchIn awe, I only can watch and stay stillas the flooding heals

I am to do nothing in this momentI need no more creatingI am in tears to be so safe in His graspGladly I extend what was never from me anywaylike an unlimited resource fueling, reminding

Let me sing what cannot be sung only because it makes me smileLet me return to the place where I am safe

may we all return to this unshakable placewithin Your mind where we are held like an infantanchored in Your heart

    Amen

The TempleI have crawled to this temple tonightthrough the mud and over hard iron spiked wallsI have crawled to this sanctuary half dead

just to lie down these few words

it is a harsh reflection that I have seen in this waterbecause it is the reflection of the truthmy truth

I lie down too tired to fight anymoretoo tired to face this crazy worldand most of all I do not know if I can enter myself anymore

    without losing my mind forever

I have made it right now to the place that I will die one dayI know this place all too wellthe only difference in this time and the nextis a crapshoot of when

but these words etched herewill remainand with that I drain this current out

son, I sayit has been a long walk a hard walk and sometimesa happy walkthis will be for you as wellit is our trail of tears in your bloodlinefathers killing sons without ever knowing what they did

son, I crymay I be the first in our line to healand not kill you too as I have beenand my father and his before his

son, I weepthese tears are the pain of this reflectionthe hate inside of me of what we have done in our mindseven before you would understand in terms of timethe spike drives in my heartand I see the hate and anger inside

keep knockingin the beginning it can feel likestanding outside the Great Pyramid alone in the vastnessknocking to be let in

so dark, so tired, so unsureand too that we do not really know what is inside

as our knuckles and fists tire, the way to peace seems lostbehind us runs the world and the ways from which we comeas the sun sets on the last day

we have the strength barely to even standyet just before we turn our back

    we see a crack

let this crack be enoughthe entry to peace is one of willingnessto not be like what is behind usbut what lives within

even if we do not yet know what this iswe hear the chants of our tribe and spiritto keep knocking

and one day when we see our innocenceand all the things we truly have

which are from what we cannot explainyet we know them to be true

we remind our brothersthe door to this well of life

    will open

    keep knocking
