hungry for justice + + +

Thank you for attending “Hungry for Justice: Social, Economic, Environ-mental,” the 3rd Annual Baylor University Poverty Summit and The Campus Kitchens Project Annual Leadership Conference! This conference has been a collaborative effort between Baylor University and The Campus Kitch-ens Project; we hope the focus on hunger, just food production, and the issues stemming from poverty has inspired you to work for change in your local community. In addition to including presentations from leading scholars and practi-tioners, we intentionally provided opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to act locally. Organizations and individuals showcased proj-ects in the Justice Exhibition, and a limited number of participants served in community gardens, non-profit organizations, and soup kitchens on Saturday, October 9. Hopefully, this conference has rejuvenated students to take action and advocate for justice. Thank you for working on behalf of the marginalized in your local com-munity! Please take advantage of the connections you made at this con-ference to share best practices, brainstorm new projects, and further connect with others doing this work across the country. We invite you to provide feedback about the conference at our registration table, and continue the work that you began here when you return to your campus of origin. Thank you!Hungry for Justice Planning Team

we have been intentional about using fair trade and recycled products for all conference materials. Each participant received a bracelet purchased from the Kianga Project, which economically empowers women in kenya; binders and programs made from recycled materials; and water bottles so that plastic waterbottles were not purchased. Hole in the roof will donate $500 to charity:water. boxed lunches supported local business; coffee was fair trade, and left over food was composted through aramark, our dining services provider.
