smart family statement

1
January 16, 2015 - We acknowledge the recent California Register article that our daughter Kristin’s remains have been located. We wish to clarify that our daughter’s remains have NOT been located. After learning of the existence of this article, we requested that it not be published. The article consists of assumptions and opinions of people that are not authorized to be involved in Kristin’s case. Although they mean well, the information and opinions have no bearing on the case itself. Any names that are mentioned in that article are used without authorization or permission of the persons, with the exception of the person providing the information. The unauthorized article is damaging to the on-going investigation. The yard mentioned was previously searched several years ago and did not produce positive results. Any information that is creditable about locating our daughter’s remains will come from the SLO Sheriff Office. For the past four years we have been in regular contact with Sheriff Ian Parkinson and the SLO Sheriff Office. We would request that anyone with creditable information in the future provide it directly to the SLO Sheriff Office. Private investigations only injure the current on-going investigation. We are truly grateful to the SLO community for your continued support. Words cannot truly express how your support has lifted our hearts and hopes over the last eighteen years. We hope and pray that there will be a time when our daughter’s remains will be located and she will be returned to our family. Thank you, Stan & Denise Smart
