Slovenian Apicultural Tour 19 May – 4 June, 2020 with Slovenian Beekeeping LLC, Suzanne Brouillette Bled, where we start our tour Biodynamic Beekeeper Bee House Slovenia lies in the center of Europe and is the size of NH, you can drive from one end to the other in about 4 hours! It meets the Alps in the north and the Adriatic Sea in the south. This country is known as the Beekeepers of Europe where one out of every 250 people is a beekeeper. It is also known as a Green Country with pristine waters, clean air and 80% of the people living in the country with large gardens. It is picturesque in every direction! Day 00 , 19 May, Tue Departure day or you can leave on the 18 th to arrive on the 19 th and have a free day on the 20 th . This way you get a chance to relax and visit in Bled for the day on your own. This extra day is not included but about 50E each, I will be at the farmhouse on the 19 th . Day 1, 20 May, Wed Arrival day to the Ljubljana Airport where a ‘GoOpti’ taxi will be waiting for you and bring you to the farmhouse. Dinner and overnight at the Pr Biscu Farmhouse. Day 2, 21 May, Thur Breakfast & meet our guide and driver. Visit with Brane Kozinc, beekeeper and does queen rearing and is a mentor to students at a local school who have their own bee house. Then meet with a wonderful artist and beekeeper, Anja Bunderla. In the afternoon, we meet with Blaz Ambrozic to visit his two bee houses. Dinner and overnight at Pr Biscu Farmhouse. Day 3, 22 May, Fri Breakfast. Visit beekeeper, Toni Zupancic, he also has an apitherapy bee house. In the afternoon we head to the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, for free time, shopping and enjoying the Friday Food Fest in the center of the city. Dinner and overnight at Pr Biscu Farmhouse.

Slovenian Apicultural Tour

Day 00 , 19 May, Tue

Departure day or you can leave on the 18th to arrive on the 19th and have a free day on the 20th.

This way you get a chance to relax and visit in Bled for the day on your own. This extra day is

not included but about 50E each, I will be at the farmhouse on the 19th.

Day 1, 20 May, Wed

Arrival day to the Ljubljana Airport where a ‘GoOpti’ taxi will be waiting for you and bring you to

the farmhouse. Dinner and overnight at the Pr Biscu Farmhouse.

Day 2, 21 May, Thur

Breakfast & meet our guide and driver. Visit with Brane Kozinc, beekeeper and does queen

Friday Food Fest in the center of the city. Dinner and overnight at Pr Biscu Farmhouse.

Day 4, May 23, Sat

Breakfast. Spending the day near Lake Bohinj with beekeepers, Mirjam & Branko. They have a

beautiful bee house where you can experience apitherapy with breathing the bee air. We will

learn how to make honey liquor, cook with honey, make honey and propolis infused soaps,

make cosmetics with honey and learn how to do a reflexology honey massages plus much more.

If we have time, we will go down to the lake to walk around. Dinner and overnight at Pr Biscu

Farmhouse.

Day 5, May 24, Sun

Breakfast. We drive to the Styria Region and visit a Biodynamic Beekeeper with two beautiful

bee houses where he practices apitherapy. Then to the Herbal Farm which is wonderful and has

a unique garden. Dinner and overnight at Firbas Farmhouse.

Day 6, May 25, Mon

Breakfast. A visit to an antique bee house collector, Josef Hauser is a passionate beekeeper and

we love our visits there. Next is visiting Kocbek Pumpkin Oil Factory, trust me, you will love

pumpkin oil after this visit!!! Then to the beautiful Ptuj Castle (entrance fee on own), this is

where the Princess and the Pea originated! Dinner and overnight at Firbas Farmhouse.

Day 7, May 26, Tues

Breakfast. We start our day with a very nice visit with Cesar, a beekeeper and maker of honey

sparkling mead, its excellent! Then we drive to Croatia to arrive about 5-6pm. Dinner and

overnight at the Resort Amarin. We have been here before, located on the Adriatic Sea with a

nice stony beach and a wonderful buffet for breakfast and dinner.

Day 8, May 27, Wed - Croatia

Breakfast. Free time in the medieval village of Rovinj, full of cobblestone alleyways, great

restaurants and nice shops everywhere. This is one of my favorite Croatian villages. Bring your

bathing suits and you can jump off the rocky coast into the Sea. Then a visit to Histria

Aromatica-an Agroturism center for the preversation of culture and tradition with over 200

plants species thru the walking paths. Free time for swimming before dinner. Dinner and

Day 9, May 28, Thur - Croatia

Breakfast. We visit a Croatian beekeeper and wine producer in Pazin with sampling! Then a visit

to the medieval village of Groznjan. The hilltop village was abandoned by the Italians after

WWII and is now owned by artists, actors, musicians, painters and sculptors. Drive back to

Slovenia. Dinner and overnight at the Malovscevo Farmhouse.

Day 10, May 29, Fri

Breakfast. A wonderful morning with one of our favorite beekeepers, Franc Sivic, a very

experienced beekeeper and we will be having a hands-on session with him. You will learn so

much from our time with him. Then with your mind full of new knowledge, we will be going for

a wine tasting at Stoka Winery, another favorite of ours! Dinner and overnight at Malovscevo.

Day 11, May 30, Sat

Breakfast. We spend the day in Semic visiting two beekeepers. First is Joze Sever, he initiated

the program “Beekeeping for Disabled People”. Then we visit, ?? ,who owns a studio and has a

workshop about the culinary history of this area, Bela Krajina, plus local crafts, gingerbread and

natural soaps. Dinner and overnight at Ob Izviru Krupe Farmhouse.

Day 12, May 31, Sun

Breakfast. We visit an old farmhouse museum then walk a beekeeping trail in Zunici. In the

afternoon, we drive to the area where I used to live, Kobarid. We stay in my village of Drezniske

Ravne up in the mountains with the Julian Alps in the background. Dinner is on your own,

overnight in B & B’s in the village.

Day 13, June 1, Mon

Breakfast. This day is free to do what you want. You can hike, do adventure sports or spend the

day in the town of Kobarid. There is a wonderful WWI Museum that I highly recommend. Which

ever you plan to do, the cost is on your own. We will discuss your options on the tour. Dinner

and overnight in Drezniske Ravne.

Day 14, June 2, Tue Venice, Italy

Breakfast. Also a free day but today you have the option of spending the day in Venice, Italy!

The bus will take you to the train station with our guide and enjoy the whole day in this amazing

city. The bus will pick you up at the train station in the afternoon. Dinner on own, overnight in

Drezniske Ravne.

Day 15, June 3, Wed

Breakfast. Drive to the Slovenian Beekeepers Association (SBA) where we will have a tour of

what they offer. There is a bee store, restaurant, bar, bee trail, etc. Dinner and overnight at

PrAmbruzarju, which is near the airport.

Day 16, June 4, Thursday

Breakfast. Taxi will take you to the airport according to when you fly out.

PRICE $3150 each, $2000 to be a down payment to hold your spot. These tours are small

and the max will be 16 people only. Full payment due by 15 April 2020. No refunds after this

date. If you pay with a credit card or Paypal, there will be an additional 3.5% fee ($110.25).
