Suggestions for Hosting a Successful Skinny-Dip

The Skinny-Dip has been one of the most popular AANR events in recent years. Skinny-Dip is also an opportunity to showcase your club to visitors who may have found the promotion online or heard about it from friends. It provides a fun experience for existing members and generates enthusiasm for your club.

We encourage you to create a Skinny-Dip event that complements your unique club and its members. AANR requests only that you submit your final participant count to the AANR office after the event.

We’ve also provided a few tips to successfully promote and run your Skinny-Dip event. Use as few or as many as you like as a basis for your own ideas to create an event that everyone will enjoy.

Promotion

• Create a Skinny-Dip promotion on your club’s website as soon as possible. Write about the fun everyone had at prior Skinny-Dips and share the details of this year’s event.

• Include the AANR Skinny-Dip graphic and a few pictures taken at prior Skinny-Dips.

• If you are reducing visitor grounds fees for the Skinny-Dip, make sure it is clear on your website.

• Mention that we are “Skinny-Dipping” simultaneously across the country at 3pm Eastern Nudist Time / 12 Noon Pacific Nudist Time on July 11, across North America and beyond.

• Feature the Skinny-Dip in your club’s newsletter:

• Begin with a mention in your May edition to build excitement as the event is the grand finale celebration of Nude Recreation Week.

• Make the Skinny-Dip the lead article in your club’s June monthly email newsletter.

• Post about the Skinny-Dip on your Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ social media platforms:

• Use the hashtag #SkinnyDip to increase the reach of your post.

• Use the Press Release template in this packet to send to your local media for press coverage. This is advertising money can’t buy!

• Send it directly to the news reporters and departments at your local television, radio and newspapers.

Running your Skinny-Dip Event

Before:

• Set up the registration table about 1-1/2 hours before the Skinny-Dip takes place.

• Find a prominent place to set out any Skinny-Dip merchandise you have ordered: t-shirts, bumper stickers, temporary tattoos (these are great for giveaways).

• Consider setting up a booth where participants can take selfies to post online and prove they were there. Limiting photos to only the booth can be a one-time exception to any anti-photography policy, with the booth keeping picture taking contained to a single area.

• As participants arrive, have your people at the registration table take care of the following:

• Sign in: Register each participant for the Skinny-Dip, giving each a number as they sign in.

• Wrist bands (if using): Give each person a wrist band with their number to use for the final count. If you plan to draw for door prizes, give them something with their number (perhaps a second numbered wrist band) to place in the bin or bucket used to draw for prizes.

• Photo release: Have each participant sign the photo release. The Skinny-Dip is a marketing opportunity to get really cool pictures for your website and social media. Let everyone know they can participate even if they don't want to be photographed. For those that don’t want to sign the release, instruct them to simply turn around when the photo is snapped.

• Giveaways: Give each participant any event material you put together. For example, a nice touch is to provide a certificate (included in this packet for printing).

• Announce that the Skinny-Dip will commence in 60, 45, 30 and 15 minutes.

• Mention AANR’s Membership Drive where every new, renewal and reinstatement membership paid for at your club between Jan-July 31, 2015 is automatically entered to WIN Cool Nudist Prizes!

During:

• Document the enthusiasm at your Skinny-Dip: For example, take a picture with the pool empty, then one with everyone in the pool.

• After the dip, do the prize draws etc.....BBQ is also a nice touch.

After:

• Send your final participant count and any photos you would like to submit for the AANR website or The Bulletin (accompanied by a photo release, included in this packet) to Carolyn Hawkins, pubaffairs@aanr.com or Roxane Osterman, rosterman@aanr.com.

• AANR will update the AANR.com website with participating clubs and the final count of their Skinny-Dippers.

• If you broke a Skinny-Dip Resort Record please make sure you advise AANR in your final count email.

• Post the latest Skinny-Dip photos to your club’s website to remind yourself and others of all the fun you had at Skinny-Dip 2015!
