Healthy Breakfast with Silk Fruit&Protein!

My Walmart had two varieties of Silk Fruit and Protein to choose from: Strawberry Banana and Mixed Berry. I can’t really say that I liked either flavor more than the other. They were both great! I thought it would taste just like sweet milk, but it was a creamy, sweet and tangy juice!

For breakfast yesterday we all tried the Silk Fruit and Protein together…

I bought the Strawberry Banana flavor since my daughter eats both of those fruits quite a bit. It also didn’t hurt that the drink was pink. I decided to make a smoothie for my daughter since we had a mid-morning play date and would be eating lunch earlier than usual at the park. Wanting to pink up the drink even more, I added some fresh strawberries, a cup of ice and a cup of Silk Fruit&Protein.

My daughter was very excited about her “shake” and couldn’t wait to try it.

Start the Day with Silk Fruit&ProteinI had assumed that Silk Fruit&Protein would taste similar to Silk’s delicious Soymilk, but it was really more like a smoothie or thick juice. The flavor was sweet and savory and the Mixed Berry was just delectable enough without being overpowering. It was definitely a hit that was tasty until the very last drop...

Pumping Up Breakfast with Silk Fruit&ProteinMy mom was the first to try the Silk Fruit&Protein and she was excited! She loves juice and she loves Silk products so it was the best of both worlds for her! She enjoyed it immensely too! The flavor was great and tasted similar to many of the strawberry banana juice blends we’ve had in the past. The great thing about the Silk Fruit&Protein is the texture!

Mariah Moon-Formula Momthe texture!

W was a huge fan of the Strawberry Banana Silk Fruit&Protein! He loves drinking out of our cups and will drink it in a sippy cup in the morning even when he doesn’t want to eat anything! Since it received his stamp of approval, I will definitely be replacing his morning apple juice with Silk Fruit&Protein on the days when he doesn’t want to eat.

A Healthy Breakfast Should Include A Fabulous Drink!

All kinds of lactose-free goodness wrapped in one little carton. Protein...check! Calcium...check! Vitamin D...check! Vitamin C...check! Only 29 grams of carbs in each glass, and low in sugars...SCORE! Plus I don’t have to premix, pre-measure, or take the time to blend! And more importantly, Silk offers me a “Love It Guarantee.” If I don’t love it, or if my family doesn’t love it, we get our money back...their PROMISE to us! Of course I picked up a carton and planned to make the switch (and cut 15 minutes out of my evening chores)!

Silk Fruit&Protein Healthy Breakfast Campaign

When he finally woke, I asked him what he’d like for breakfast and he responded with “fruit, my breakfast bar and my new juice.” Since he asked for orange juice and milk at Walmart, I asked him to grab his “new juice” from the refrigerator. To my pleasant surprise, he selected the container of Silk Fruit&Protein. I did not persuade him in any way as he selected it on his own!

We all appreciated the fresh, fruity scents of both varieties of Silk Fruit&Protein, as well as the creamy, rich texture and taste. However, our overwhelming favorite was the Strawberry Banana variety - the clear winner of our taste test. Will Silk Fruit&Protein become a regularly stocked item in our refrigerator? This Mom thinks so! The kids immediately asked for me to pick up the third variety, Mixed Berry Fruit&Protein, on my next shopping trip!

Mango~Peaches & Cream SmoothiesIt was a bit crowded on a Sunday afternoon, but we were on a mission to create the perfect Mango Smoothie. We first found a fresh mango in the fruits and vegetable section. We then decided we needed a base for the smoothie. We went to the dairy section and found some Silk Fruit&Protein Mango Peach Juice Blend. We thought this would be perfect for our smoothies. We liked the idea of the mango-peach combination, so we decided we would also include fresh peaches, Greek-style peach yogurt, and some Silk Vanilla Soymilk. We got some Cool Whip as well to mix in as our take on a “Mango-Peaches & Cream” smoothie!

Easy Smoothies!I knew Mango Peach Silk Fruit&Protein would make the perfect smoothie base for our creations.

I was very excited because mango peach is not a flavor we usually add. Mango especially, both fresh and frozen, is more expensive than other fruit so we only have it on rare occasions. This juice blend allowed me to keep our smoothies frugal by adding frozen pineapple and fresh spinach for a “Green Monster” smoothie.

Green Monster smoothies are my favorite way to get my children to have green leafy vegetables first thing in the morning. The tropical fruit flavors help to mask the mild flavor of spinach.

Mmm... green enough to make any monster happy!

Tropical French Toast with Pineapple SauceI try hard to limit the amount of meat my family eats and am always looking for ways to include more vegetarian options in our diet. I am always aware, however, that my growing kids need a fair amount of protein to stay healthy and strong. Since they are not big fans of beans or tofu, this often leaves me in a bit of a bind when it comes to protein rich meals! Breakfast for dinner is always a huge hit with the kids and when I was asked to come up with a creative recipe for Silk Fruit&Protein I thought that French toast for dinner would be a quick and easy meal idea!

Strawberry Cheesecake ShakeWhat says summer more that strawberries and shakes? Although it is not quite summer yet, last Saturday ended up being really warm. I dropped my son off at an outdoor birthday party and my daughter had a friend over. I decided to try out strawberry cheesecake shakes on the girls.

Smooth Deliciousness: Silk Fruit&Protein Smoothie

When I was offered the chance to check out the new Silk Fruit&Protein drink, I signed up right away! I am usually trying to find ways to incorporate protein in my sons’ diets, and typically feel like I am not doing the best job. The idea of making a smoothie never dawned on me! I really believed they would love this!

Strawberry & Banana Smoothie

I wanted to try out the new Silk Fruit&Protein. They come in several different flavors, but the one I wanted to try out was the Strawberry Banana. So happy our Walmart carried that flavor. Yum!

This is a super easy recipe! Don’t tell the kids but I had TWO!

Delicious Silk Fruit&Protein Recipes for the Lactose IntolerantI recently was challenged to use Silk® Fruit&Protein, found at my Walmart, in a recipe. Well you know me…I could not stop creating once I got going…so I have three recipes to share today. But first let me tell you about this yummy new product from Silk..Fruit&Protein!

Silk Fruit&Protein offers the taste of fruit juice plus the nourishing power of protein. According to the website, “it is silky-smooth, fruit-luscious and easy to love.” Silk Fruit&Protein is marvelous in the morning or awesome in the afternoon. Silk Fruit&Protein is made with natural beans right here in North America, without genetic engineering. Chock full of protein, calcium, vitamin D and vitamin C, it comes in three fruity flavors: Mango Peach, Mixed Berry and Strawberry Banana.” However, I like it for one BIGGGGGGG reason…It’s Lactose FREE!!!

Thinking Outside of the GlassHave you tried Silk Fruit&Protein yet? I have, and my family loves it! Not only does it taste pretty sensational in a glass with breakfast, but you can use it in smoothies, or even as a sauce for cakes. I went to Walmart with the intention of getting items to make a smoothie. Of course, being the crazy foodie that I am, as soon as I got to Walmart my mind went nuts with ideas. I started thinking about a tropical banana pudding, or maybe even a parfait topped with Italian cookies or granola. I get myself into trouble with food because once the ideas flow, I have to try them ALL.

Tastier, Healthier, Faster Breakfast with Silk Fruit&ProteinI love to drink smoothies. It’s an easy way to get the vitamins and minerals I need on a daily basis. I like to add different fruits, juices and milks to make them vary. It is also a great way for my son to eat fruits and veggies he would not eat singularly. He can be picky but if I blend it up for him he thinks it’s a fun drink.

Each day I make myself a smoothie for breakfast or lunch. My son has waffles and juice with a bowl of fruit. I have found that combination to be something he will consistently eat. I have been wanting him to get more protein by serving him yogurt with breakfast. Some days he will eat it and other days he refuses. But each time I put it in a smoothie he will eat it.

I went shopping at our local Walmart for the new Silk Fruit&Protein and calculated the price of all the individual ingredients for a smoothie vs the price of the Silk and it turns out I save time and money with Silk!

I still had plenty of strawberries and the Silk Fruit&Protein/cream mixture left over. I decided to make popsicles. I diced up strawberries and added the Silk and cream mixture. I stirred in one tablespoon of corn syrup to help avoid the pops resembling ice cubes. I poured everything into small paper cups and inserted lollipop sticks that I had on hand. I had an easy and healthy summer treat just a few hours later.

Healthier Strawberry CakeWe have a lot of diabetics in our family so when I was presented with a #SilkFruit recipe challenge I immediately thought about the cake recipe we use for them, because it removes some of the sugar so everyone can enjoy. The ingredient this time was Silk Fruit&Protein, so challenge accepted! Please note that this is not a recipe for people like Michael. He likes the heavy frosting and lots of sugar in cakes. This is a light cake and is great if you want to indulge without feeling too terribly guilty. I promise it tastes great though!
