Recommendations

• More Thrust is given on “Ready to Eat” and “Ready to Cook” kind of processed items.

• Farmers need to adopt new farming techniques to boost the shrimp production in the country.

• Value addition and diversification is very good opportunity for Indian shrimp.

• IQF and Cold chain facility to be created to boost the Quality and price of product.

• New technologies should be developed to decrease the Production cost and increase the Profit margins like Automatic feeder, aerators, harvesters etc. it will help in Proper supply of feed, Optimum use of energies and Prevent loss occurring due to traditional harvesting practices respectively.

• The crop should be taken considering the peak months of rise in markets.

Page 32: shrimp ppt

32

Conclusion

Due to large coastline India has tremendous opportunity for shrimp export oriented business. Value addition has been considered as the thrust area. Indian seafood processing units should be encouraged for value addition and export through setting up new units. Due to entry of Private Players in this sector leads to stiff competition.
