Before Inverness was named inverness it was called Tompkinsville supposedly named after the country’s first tax collector.

Inverness (at the foot of the nest) was named by a Scotsman after a city in Scotland with similar characteristics: a chain of beautiful lakes with the city lying nestled beneath. Lake Tasla Apopka has no lock ness monster (probably not in Lock Ness Lake either).

The river is over 150 miles long, travels through 7 counties and flows from south to north (this is unusual). The river’s water is dark, like strong tea, this is caused by the acid from the river bank tree roots.
