We, the people of St. Clare Catholic Parish, In the Diocese of Belleville, are called by God
in baptism to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Centered in the Eucharist, and strengthened
by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we strive to live the Gospel and further the reign of God.
We do this by creating a vibrant faith community, by actively promoting justice and evangelization, and by using our gifts in the service of God’s people, to give God

Most Reverend Edward K. Braxton, Bishop of Belleville
St. Clare of Assisi, Pray for Us!
From Our Pastor...
Since some of you may have been gone last weekend, I am re-running my column about our new staff member, Matthew Flynn, as I want everyone to get to know him a bit before starting this week. Please keep Matt and Katie in your prayers as they are very near the due date for their first baby. We are organizing helpers for 'welcome meals' and moving help next month. Please call the office if you would like to help Matt and Katie!
Welcome to our new staff member, Director of Adult Faith Formation
Matthew Flynn was born and raised in St. Louis, and is happy to be returning to his roots after living in South Bend, Indiana and Honolulu, Hawaii for most of the last eleven years of his life.
During that time, he has graduated from the University of Notre Dame twice (once with a BA in Philosophy and Theology and once with a Masters of Divinity); studied abroad in Chile and completed a summer of service in Peru, lived in a Catholic Worker House, helped found a Catholic Worker community and newspaper and worked for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In addition, he led a faith for-mation group for prison ministry, served as an adult coaching specialist at a homeless shelter, and married the most incredible woman he has ever met.
He is very excited to be moving closer to his family and friends in St. Louis and to begin work at St. Clare of Assisi Parish. He is also ecstatic about the upcoming birth of his first child. In his soon to be non-existent spare time (or so he is told), he enjoys grilling and barbecuing, watching sports (especially Notre Dame football), being in nature, and read-ing. He hopes his children will enjoy growing up in the St. Louis area as much as he did and is looking forward to being part of St. Clare Parish. We look forward to welcoming Matt and Katie, to our parish family! Fr. Jim Deiters
