Numesh offers the most complete line of welded wire reinforcement products for the Canadian and American markets.

STRUCTURAL ENGINEERED WELDED WIRE REINFORCEMENT (WWR) MESH SOLUTION

Numesh has developed the expertise of doing the conversion of traditional rebar to structural Engi-neered Welded Wire Reinforcement (WWR) and we are ready to help you to save time and money!

For projects like fabrication of repetitive concrete products or important concrete slabs, the engi-neered structural WWR is your solution. The use of prefabricated WWR will speed-up your projects.

THE MANY BENEFITS OF THE STRUCTURAL WWR

There are several benefits over traditional rebar installation such as:

WWR is made from higher yield strength steel, up to 80 Ksi compared to regular rebar at 60 Ksi, offering the possibility to reduce the steel content by as much as 25%.

WWR is easier and faster to install with small-er crews compared to individual rebar placing and hand tying.

Loose large rebar replaced by smaller wire closer, welded together and equally-spaced offering better crack control, thus improving quality of concrete products.

WWR ensures proper positioning in concrete forms as required in the drawings with quick and easy quality control inspection.

WWR can be bent and rolled to fit your concrete projects.

Reduced time schedule, less labor, less steel content, less transportation and great quality concrete products.

Great solution if you experience shortage of labor.

Created in 1975, Numesh became the largest producer of Wire and Welded Wire Rein-forcement (WWR) mesh products used in a variety of concrete applications intended for the construction markets throughout Canada and USA: slabs on grade, structural slabs, concrete pipe, footings and foundations, architectural precast walls, stirrups, deck mesh, box culverts, utility concrete products, tunnel precast segments, bridge beams, jersey barriers, concrete road and mining.

Our combined capacity to produce and stock reinforcing mesh, in both sheets and rolls, in standard sizes or unique customer specifications, will guarantee exceptional service.

NUMESH IS SERVING THE INDUSTRY BY MANUFACTURING STRUCTURAL WELDED WIRE REINFORCEMENT (WWR) STEEL PRODUCTS, SUCH AS:

Building mesh Structural mesh Minemesh Pipemesh

SECTIONAL AREAS OF

WELDED WIRE REINFORCEMENT (WWR)

Important: Numesh disclaims any liability for the use of the information and data contained herein.

*WIRE SIZE:

Imperial wire sizes are designated by their sectional area in hundreths of a square inch. Ex.: for W8,Area = 0.08 in.2

Metric wire sizes are designated by their sectional area in mm2.

Ex.: for MW51.6, Area = 51.6 mm2

“W” denotes smooth wire ex.: W18 “D” denotes deformed wire ex.: D18 “M” denotes metric ex.: MW116.1 or MD116.1

REBAR SIZES:

Canadian Sizes

10M: A = 100 mm2 = 0.155 in.2

15M: A = 200 mm2 = 0.31 in.2

20M: A = 300 mm2 = 0.465 in.2

25M: A = 500 mm2 = 0.775 in.2

30M: A = 700 mm2 = 1.085 in.2

U.S. Sizes

#3: A = 0.11 in.2 = 71 mm2

#4: A = 0.20 in.2 = 129 mm2

#5: A = 0.31 in.2 = 199 mm2

#6: A = 0.44 in.2 = 284 mm2

#7: A = 0.60 in.2 = 387 mm2

#8: A = 0.79 in.2 = 510 mm2

MESH CONVERSION:

Rebar Fy = 400 MPa Deformed Mesh Fy = 485 MPa, available up to 550 MPa

Example: Area reduction when converting Rebar Steel Area to Deformed Mesh, Fy = 500 MPa

For a saving of 20% of steel content Multiply by x 400/500 = 0.80

Minimum Mechanical Properties for WWR

Type of WWR

Minimum TensileStrength

Minimum YieldStrength Fy

Minimum Weld Shear Strength

Smooth Wire Mesh

515 MPa (75 000 psi)

450 MPa (65 000 psi)

241 x area* mm2 = Newtons (35 000 x area* in.2 = lb.force)

Deformed Structural Wire Mesh

550 MPa (80 000 psi)

485 MPa (70 000 psi)

241 x area* mm2 = Newtons (35 000 x area* in.2 = lb.force)

* Area of the biggest wire. The smallest wire must have 40% x area of the biggest wire.

CONVERSION FACTORS:

1 in. = 25.4 mm

1 ft = 0.3048 m

1 in.2 = 645.2 mm2

1 in.2/lin. ft = 2116.7 mm2/lin. m

1 lb/100 ft2 = 0.0488 kg /m2

1 lb = 0.4536 kg

1000 psi = 6.895 MPa

(Diam. inch)2 x 2.673 = weight lb/lin. ft

A = 0.7854 d2

(Area inch)2 x 3.4 = weight lb/lin. ft

In yellow are the most popular sizes to design WWR.
