  • Introduction

The following rules apply throughout this Service Manual:1. Each chapter contains sections explaining the purpose of specific functions and the relationship between electrical and mechanical systems with refer-

ence to the timing of operation. In the diagrams, represents the path of mechanical drive; where a signal name accompanies the symbol , the arrow indicates thedirection of the electric signal. The expression "turn on the power" means flipping on the power switch, closing the front door, and closing the delivery unit door, which results insupplying the machine with power.

    2. In the digital circuits, '1'is used to indicate that the voltage level of a given signal is "High", while '0' is used to indicate "Low".(The voltage value, how-ever, differs from circuit to circuit.) In addition, the asterisk (*) as in "DRMD*" indicates that the DRMD signal goes on when '0'.In practically all cases, the internal mechanisms of a microprocessor cannot be checked in the field. Therefore, the operations of the microprocessorsused in the machines are not discussed: they are explained in terms of from sensors to the input of the DC controller PCB and from the output of theDC controller PCB to the loads.

The descriptions in this Service Manual are subject to change without notice for product improvement or other purposes, and major changes will be com-municated in the form of Service Information bulletins. All service persons are expected to have a good understanding of the contents of this Service Manual and all relevant Service Information bulletins and beable to identify and isolate faults in the machine."

This machine is a necessary option to build the Professional Puncher-B1 into the system, and is connected to the downstream side of the Professional Puncher-B1when used. The Professional Puncher-B1 communicates with the host machine via this machine.

This machine has two feed paths; bypass feed path and reverse feed path.Which feed path is used is determined based on the command received from the host machine.

When using the bypass feed path:In the following cases, the paper is transported to the downstream unit in the direction of the sheet received.

    - When the paper is simply transported without being punched;

    3.2.2 Bypass Feed Control0020-3186

When the sheet is not reversed, it is fed through the horizontal bypass [1].

When the inlet flapper switch solenoid (SL1) is turned off, the inlet flapper [2] is pressed to the lower guide driven by the spring. When the bypass rollers 1 [4], 2 [5], and 3 [6] rotate driven by the bypass feed motor (M1), the sheet [3] is fed through the upper side of the inlet flapper. The feeding speed is the same as the receiving speed from the upstream unit (290.0 to 1300.0mm/sec).

The paper feed condition is detected by the bypass 1 sensor (RS1) and bypass 2 sensor (RS5).

    3.2.3 Reverse Path Feed Control0020-3188

When the sheet is reversed, it is fed through the vertical reverse path [4].

When the inlet flapper switch solenoid (SL1) is turned on, the inlet flapper [1] is lifted up.When the bypass roller 1 [3] rotates driven by the bypass feed motor (M1), the sheet [2] is fed to the reverse path through the lower side of the inlet flapper. The feeding speed is the same as the receiving speed from the upstream unit (290.0 to 1300.0 mm/sec).

The paper feed condition is detected by the bypass 1 sensor (RS1).

    F-3-7

The following explains the paper feed procedure in chronological order.

When the reverse path roller 1 [1] rotates driven by the lead-in motor (M2), the sheet moves down through the reverse path on the right side. The feeding speed isthe same as the receiving speed from the upstream unit. When the leading edge of the sheet moves from the reverse path 1 sensor (RS2) by 79.3 mm, the feeding speed increases to 1500 mm/sec.

When the leading edge of the sheet moves from the reverse path 1 sensor by 128.5 mm, the reverse flapper switch motor (M6) drives the cam [3] to rotate. The cam pushes the lever [4], causing the reverse flapper [5] to be pressed to the left ([A]).The home position of the cam driving the reverse flapper is detected by the reverse flapper HP sensor (PS7).

The reverse path roller 2 [2] rotates driven by the pre-reverse feed motor (M3), and the sheet continues to move down through the right side of the reverse flapper, keeping the speed of 1500 mm/sec.

The reverse path roller 3 [6] rotates driven by the reverse motor (M4) (reverse rotation), the sheet goes through the reverse flapper. When the leading edge of the sheet moves from the reverse path 2 sensor (RS3) by (paper length - 132.9) mm, the cam rotates and is disengaged from the lever, causing the reverse flapper to return to right driven by the spring ([B]).

When the leading edge of the sheet moves from the reverse path 2 sensor by (paper length - 110.9) mm (when the trailing edge of the sheet moves from the reversepath 1 sensor by 209.4 mm), the sheet stops. After being placed in the standby status for 40 msec, the reverse path roller 3 rotates in reverse driven by the reverse motor (normal rotation), and the sheet movesup at a speed of 1500 mm/sec.The reverse path roller 2 rotates, and the sheet continues to move up through the left side of the reverse flapper.

When the trailing edge of the sheet moves from the reverse path 3 sensor (RS4) by 7.3 mm, the feeding speed decreases to the receiving speed. After that, the sheet is fed to the downstream unit in the same manner as the bypass feeding.

    3.4 Detecting Jams

    3.4.1 Overview0020-3192

This machine has sensors shown in the figure below to detect whether the sheet is fed normally or not.Whether a jam occurred or not is judged by reading a signal sent from the sensor at the timing saved in the host machine. When the host machine judges that a jam occurred, it stops the machine operation and displays a jam removal procedure on the control panel of the host machine.

This machine judges that a jam occurred in the following cases.- Delay jam:

Even when the sheet is fed by 30 mm at the assumed timing, the leading edge of the sensor does not reach the sensor.- Stationary jam:

Even when the sheet is fed by 40 mm at the assumed timing, the trailing edge of the sheet does not go through the sensor.- Early arrival jam:

The leading edge of the sheet reached the sensor earlier than assumed timing.- Power-on jam:

Each sensor detected the sheet at the time of power-on, at the completion of warm-up, or during standby.- Door open jam:

The front cover was opened while the sheet was being fed.- Idling jam:

When a jam is detected within the specified time while idle feeding after the front cover is closed.- Time-out jam:

The sheet could not be received at the timing when it was fed from the upstream unit.- Status failure:

A failure occurred to the sheet fed from the upstream unit, such as too small paper interval, etc.- Failure of receiving/sending from the upstream unit:

The machine could not receive a paper receiving/sending signal from the upstream unit.- Reverse flapper switch motor operation failure:

During reverse path feeding operation, the reverse flapper could not be switched as it was assumed.T-3-1
