It is also the day we celebrate the birth of Fr. Elmer Wurth, whom we have been blessed to have here at our parish. We are putting up pictures of different saints in the Parish Center, along with their quotes, and asked Fr. Elmer what his quote would be. You can see his response to the right (and you can get a glimpse of his sense of humor). We are very thankful for Fr. Elmer’s deep faith, quick wit and positive attitude. He is a reminder for all of us of the happiness that can come from having the joy of the Lord in your heart. Happy Birthday, Fr. Elmer! Triathlon, 5K & Kids Activities & Food at

Four Seasons Park (Open to Everyone) On October 1, at Kalida’s Four Seasons Park, there will be a triathlon and 5K Run. This is a fundraiser for Kids Safety / Drug education. The event includes a Children’s Fun Zone, with face and pumpkin painting, a bounce house, an inflat-able obstacle course and K-9 demonstrations. Registration links at www.putnamsheriffrace.com. Please share this with family and friends, as this is a county-wide fundraiser for Kids Safety. The event begins at 9:45 a.m., with 5K at 10:30 a.m. The 5K is a separate event from the Triathlon. Sand-wiches and BBQ chicken dinners will be available.

Opiate/Heroin Epidemic On September 28, at 6:00 p.m., at the Kalida K of C Hall, all are encouraged to attend an educational town hall meeting about the opiate/heroin epidemic. You will hear from state and local resources, local people who have overcome real addiction and local people affected by addiction. If you have questions or concerns, email Chief Nick Gilgenbach, at [email protected] or call 419-659-2404. Doors open at 5:00 p.m., and the program will last approximately 90 min-utes, with a question and answer session with panel speakers.

Fundraiser for Pinewood Derby Track

The Kalida Cub Scouts Pinewood Derby Track has served us well for many, many years. We are now working to raise funds to replace our wooden track. If you would like to help our growing Cub Scout Pack get a new aluminum Derby Track or if you have questions about Scouts, please contact Jim Klausing, Pack 221 Scout Master (8143 Road L18, Cloverdale, OH 45827; 419-796-9460 or [email protected]).

Theme Baskets for Mission Festival…

can be picked up in the front of church this weekend. Please select a basket, mark your name on the sign-out sheet with the corresponding number and have fun creating your special theme basket. All money raised from this year's Mission Fes-tival will support Fr. Elmer's favorite mission project and to put a roof on a church in Tanzania. Finished baskets can be brought to the Parish Center or placed in the back of church by October 13.

Catholic Divorce Ministry Begins This Week A 12-week divorce & separated support group, Catholic Di-vorce Recovery, will be hosted by Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Ottawa. The Catholic Divorce Recovery program was created to help divorced or separated Catholic by offering support and healing through the wisdom and truth of the Catholic faith. Meetings will be held in the SPPS library on Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m., beginning September 27. A registration fee of $20 includes the cost of a workbook, mate-rials, and refreshments.
