Dearest Good Shepherd Family, Since I have been here at the Good Shepherd, one question I have been asked the most by my friends from my former parishes is: how busy is life at the Good Shepherd? I often jokingly say to them in reply: We are so busy that even the Holy Spirit cannot catch up with what is happening here. Lol! Yes, September seems to be a very busy month at our parish, especially the upcoming two weekends. We will celebrate the Feast of St. Padre Pio at Noon Mass on the 23rd followed by a reception organized by St. Padre Pio’s group. All are invited. Also on this same day, we will have an additional Mass at 5pm – Mass of Healing follwed by a healing service and talk. The following day, Monday the 24th, the Uplifting Talks of Hope will be held at 7pm. Please come let Jesus heal you. The following weekend, which is Sunday, Septemter 30th, we will celebrate the Feast of St. Lorenzo Ruiz at Noon Mass. Saint Lorenzo Ruiz is the first canonized Filipino martyr who became a witness to the faith in 17th century.

Saving the best for last: Our annual festival- Flock Party. Please come and join our Flock Party. This is truly a funraising event for all of us. While we do funraising, we do fundraising for our parish as well. Please support our parish by buying raffle tickets and coming to the party. St. James said in the second reading of this 24th Sunday Year B: Faith without works is dead. We, as members of the Good Shepherd Family, commit to put our faith into practice. We don’t just talk our talk, but walk our walk to bring our faith alive by participating in our parish events and feeding one another. Together we build up this community full of love, living and sharing the love of Christ to others. Have a blessed and peaceful week. Fr. Thi Hoang

In a letter to Fr. Thi, Fr. Gary writes: “You can’t imagine how much we appreciate your support and care. This gift will help us evangelize those who have not yet come to know the Lord, provide for some of the basic needs of the poor, educate the young, house the desti-tute elderly in a dignified way and put a roof over the heads of families without a home. …..I am confident that the good Lord will bless you and your parishioners for this most generous sacrifice for our poor. Truly, “...the Lord hears the cry of the poor” has touched the hearts of your parish as they have so generous-ly responded in the Lord’s name. We are very grateful!

The Church’s missionary transformation 19. Evangelization takes place in obedience to the missionary mandate of Jesus: “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Mt 28:19-20). In these verses we see how the risen Christ sent his followers to preach the Gospel in every time and place, so that faith in him might spread to every corner of the earth.

Él me hace oír y hablar!” ¡ Alabado sea el Señor! Bendiciones, Padre Thi Hoang
