Attendance & Participation

This class provides an opportunity for you to take your first steps toward your post secondary area of study. It is important, therefore, to commit yourself fully to the work of the course. Your best efforts are expected. It is your responsibility to make sure specific expectations are clear; ask if you are uncertain.

Most importantly

Senior projects require the selection of a topic

that interest you.

A Senior Project is about doing and learning something that you want to do and learn about! This is your chance to choose a topic that will be interesting and worthwhile and will extend your knowledge. However, making the decision may not be easy. Choose carefully, consult with your career advisor and remember to keep your project manageable. Here are some guidelines that might help you. •Topics must be related to your career and technical area of interest.•The topic must be enough to provide adequate resources and to yield a written report of the desired length and depth of study.•Topics must be narrow enough to be covered within the time frame of the project.•Topics must lend themselves to a manageable and affordable product/process project

Ms. Montañez English Teacher Socorro High School 10150 Alameda Ave. El Paso, TX 79927

Dear Ms. Montañez:

In May 2014, I will graduate from Socorro High School with a High School Diploma. My immediate interests lie in telecommunications, and media technology; however, after working with the yearbook for the past two years in addition to an insatiable curiosity, as I need to know everything, I have come to the realization that I want to become an investigative reporter. My senior project therefore is going to explore the choices and the qualifications that I would need to peruse this endeavor. I am also currently working a story that not only affects me and my family, but others in the Lower Valley of El Paso and I would like to conduct more research to better inform myself, and eventually alert the public. At this time I am thinking of presenting this as a news report in the form of a video that will not only inform but have others take ownership of their community, and act. I appreciate your time and consideration, and I look forward to hearing your honest feedback. As I know this will help prepare me for life after high school. Therefore, I will not copy any part of my project as I want to know what my work is really worth. Best Regards,

Francisca Villa
