Fi h Sunday of Easter 2 Quinto Domingo de Pascua

Dear Fellow Parishioners: May 15, 2022! We begin today the Fifth Week of Easter! We move a little deeper into the Paschal Mystery. We see this considerable progress in the reading today from the Acts of the Apostles. The message of the "Good News" continues to spread beyond the small nucleus of its origin. This is primarily through the missionary work of Paul and Barnabas at Lystra, and Iconium, and Antioch; then on to Pamphylia and Pisidia; next to Perga and Attalia and finally back to Antioch! If you try to trace these journeys on a 2000 year old map, one would grasp the awesomeness of what Paul actually accomplished! Given the primitive modes of transportation that Paul and the others had to use, what they did was nothing short of incredible! It could scarcely be accomplished today! When all was said and done, to quote the final line from the passage today: He had "opened the door of faith to the Gentiles!" What "doors of faith" are we opening? Vatican II reminded us that the Missionary Work of the Church is still a valuable and essential part of what we are about. And praise God for the fact that there are still courageous men and women who continue in the footsteps of Paul and Barnabas - traveling, teaching, planting, suffering and sometimes dying. But what are we doing in our little orbits? In our neighborhood...where we work....in our parish...among our families...in our schools? You do not have to accept the formal role of missionary or catechist in order to be one - every day - to the people you come into contact with. Even the reading from Revelation today seems to get right to the redemptive point! There is none of the sometimes-intimidating symbolism. Just the life-altering promise that "God will always be with us as our God!" "Behold, I make all things new!" AMEN to that! And in the passage from the Gospel of John, we get the simple yet powerful message of love. Recall that the Apostle John was the only one not to suffer a martyr's death. He preached the message of LOVE up to and including his final breath. It is the only way. The Master Himself tells us: "This is how all will know that you are my disciples if you have Love for one another! Sound easy? Try it! Today we welcome the Spirit into our midst, with the second of our Confirmation Masses! We welcome Bishop Turley to our Parish to celebrate this Sacrament with 50 of the young men and women from our Religious Education Program! In a few weeks we will be celebrating Pentecost, but it is never to early to pray: "Come Holy Spirit, Come!" Have a Blessed Week! Fr. Stan

Estimados feligreses: 15 de mayo de 2022! ¡Comenzamos hoy la Quinta Semana de Pascua! Nos adentramos un poco más en el Misterio Pascual. Vemos este progreso considerable en la lectura de hoy de los Hechos de los Apóstoles. El mensaje de la "Buena Noticia" sigue difundiéndose más allá del pequeño núcleo de su origen. Esto es principalmente a través del trabajo misionero de Pablo y Bernabé en Listra, Iconio y Antioquía; luego a Panfilia y Pisidia; ¡junto a Perge y Attalia y finalmente de vuelta a Antioquía! Si tratas de rastrear estos viajes en un mapa de 2000 años de antigüedad, ¡podrías comprender la maravilla de lo que Paul realmente logró! Drodzy Bracia Parafianie: 15 maja 2022! Dziś zaczynamy Piąty Tydzień Wielkanocy! Wchodzimy trochę głębiej w tajemnicę paschalną. Ten znaczny postęp widzimy w dzisiejszym czytaniu Dziejów Apostolskich. Przesłanie „Dobrej Nowiny” nadal rozprzestrzenia się poza mały zarodek, z którego pochodzi. Dzieje się tak głównie dzięki pracy misyjnej Pawła i Barnaby w Listrze, Ikonium i An ochii; potem do Pamfilii i Pizydii; obok Pergi i A alii i wreszcie z powrotem do An ochii! Jeśli spróbujesz prześledzić te podróże na mapie z przed 2000 lat, zrozumiesz wspaniałość tego, co faktycznie osiągnął Paul! Biorąc pod uwagę prymitywne środki transportu, z których musieli korzystać Paul i inni, to, co zrobili, było niewiarygodne! Dzisiaj trudno byłoby tego dokonać! Kiedy wszystko zostało powiedziane i zrobione, by zacytować ostatnią linijkę z dzisiejszego fragmentu: „Otworzył drzwi wiary dla pogan!” Jakie „drzwi wiary” otwieramy? Sobór Watykański II przypomniał nam, że praca misyjna Kościoła jest nadal cenną i zasadniczą częścią tego, czym się zajmujemy. I chwalcie Boga za to, że wciąż są odważni mężczyźni i kobiety, którzy podążają śladami Pawła i Barnaby - podróżują, nauczają, sadzą, cierpią, a czasem umierają. Ale co robimy na naszych małych orbitach? W naszym sąsiedztwie... gdzie pracujemy... w naszej parafii... wśród naszych rodzin... w naszych szkołach? Nie musisz przyjmować formalnej roli misjonarza czy katechety, aby być jednym – na co dzień – z osobami, z którymi się stykasz. Nawet dzisiejsze czytanie z Objawienia wydaje się zmierzać prosto do punktu odkupienia! Nie ma tu czasami zastraszającej symboliki. Tylko odmieniająca życie obietnica, że „Bóg zawsze będzie z nami jako nasz Bóg!” „Oto czynię wszystko nowe!” Zgadzam się! A we fragmencie Ewangelii Jana otrzymujemy proste, ale potężne przesłanie miłości. Przypomnijmy, że Apostoł Jan był jedynym, który nie poniósł męczeńskiej śmierci. Głosił przesłanie MIŁOŚCI aż do ostatniego tchnienia włącznie. To jedyny sposób. Sam Mistrz mówi nam: „W ten sposób wszyscy poznają, że jesteście moimi uczniami, jeśli macie do siebie Miłość! Brzmi łatwo? Spróbuj! Dziś witamy pośród nas Ducha Świętego podczas drugiej Mszy św. z okazji Bierzmowania! Witamy biskupa Turleya w naszej parafii, aby celebrować ten sakrament z 50 młodymi mężczyznami i kobietami z naszego programu edukacji religijnej! Za kilka tygodni będziemy obchodzić Pięćdziesiątnicę, ale nigdy nie jest za wcześnie, aby modlić się: „Przyjdź Duchu Święty, przyjdź!” Życzę Błogosławionego Tygodnia! Ksiądz Stanislaw
