Jesus replied, “You give me, which is not with me.” Eronimus was ready to give wealth, but Jesus refused and said that it is I who gave it to you. Then, he gave wisdom and knowledge, but Jesus refused. Eronimus was confused and he asked, “Jesus what do you want?” Jesus said, “You give me which is not with me.” Again, Eronimus was confused and said, “Lord I did not understand; please ask from me, I am ready to give everything and anything.” Jesus said to him, “Give me your sins because sin is destroying your life.” He confessed his sins and started a new life, and he was fully human. Because of this, he is one among the saints. God said that I should take away the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. It is like when a guest comes over to visit, we are happy to show them around our house - the medals that we have received as well as new items that we may have purchased. Likewise, let us now allow Christ to enter into your past life – from your conception in your mother’s womb until the present moment. Go back with him into your past and take him along the different stages of your life to transform our lives and recreate our hearts. Amen. PASTOR’S NOTE

“Prepare a road for the Lord, Turn away from your sins.”

There is a story of Eronimus; he wanted to become fully human and a saintly person. Therefore, he started to live in a cave practicing prayer and meditation in Jerusalem and in the country of Israel. All of a sudden one fine morning, while he was meditating, Jesus appeared in front of him. He was extremely happy and joyful. Since Jesus appeared in front of him, he wanted to give something to Jesus. Eronimus asked what he wanted.

Advent is an invitation to set things right with God and to prepare ourselves not only to celebrate the first coming of Christ, but also to celebrate his final coming. Some say that true repentance has a double aspect; it looks upon the past with a weeping eye, and upon the future with a watchful eye. When the prodigal son came to his realization, his attitude towards his father, his friends, and others changed. This is the real meaning of the true conversion.

In the book of Ezekiel: 36:25-36, God promises two things: a new heart and a new mind. God does not promise us a new president, a new superior, a new country, a new apostolate, a new religion, but a new heart. God said that I should take away the heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. In the Bible there are many personalities like Zeccheus, the Samaritan woman, the woman caught in adultery, the prophet Jonah and others who had changed their attitude after their encounter with Jesus. Amen.
