Space Awareness is a project funded by the European Commission’s

Horizon 2020 Programme under grant agreement n° 638653

OBJECTIVES

2

• Stimulate the new generation of space-oriented scientists, with focus on girls and ethnic minorities.

• Use space and the Universe to broaden children’s minds, raise awareness to the importance of space sciences in everyday life, develop a sense of European and global citizenship, and foster tolerance for diverse culture.

• Build long-term partnerships between people from different cultural backgrounds and countries inside and outside Europe.

• Help build the scientific and technological capacity of developing countries, particularly in Africa

EDUCATIONAL KITSOur Wonderful Universe

Our Fragile Planet

Navigation through the

Ages

Islamic Heritage Kit

Focuses primarily on Space/Astronomy and

approaches topics like The Sun-Earth-Moon system,

Galaxies, Stars.

Focuses on our planet Earth: its composition,

surface, waters, climate, biodiversity and even climate change. It offers entry-points into

Geography, Biology and even History.

Offers fascinating perspectives into topics

from the basic concepts of navigation to celestial navigation, instruments used, and even satellite

navigation/GPS systems.

A materialization of one of the project’s objective, it brings

awareness to the contribution of Islamic scientists to the development of Astronomy

during the middle ages and also addresses the need to respond to the current political and

humanitarian issue on migration.
