Low Bioavailability OfFat-Soluble Substances

- The bioavailability of hardly and fat-soluble substances is low and usually less than 20%.

- Most of the active ingredients are excreted unused

- For example, if you consume vitamin E, you lose 4/5 of the valuable substance

- In addition, with increasing age, the body's ability to absorb fat-soluble substances drops sharply

Micelles & The Formation Of Micelles

A micelle thus consists of a "core" (ingredients e.g. curcumin)and a "shell" of auxiliary substances (e.g. gum arabic and root resin),

which ensure or enable the "connection" to the surrounding water.

- A prerequisite for the digestion of fat is the formation of micelles

- This process takes time and usually takes longer than the elimination process allows

- The formation of micelles therefore covers only part of the fat-soluble and poorly soluble substances

- Fat-soluble substances are for the most part excreted undigested and unused

Page 4: SCIENCE – THE MICELLES

- Difficult and fat-soluble substances are converted into a water-soluble form

- The body's own process ofmicelle formation is eliminated

- This micellelization process can be applied to a wide variety of substances
