St. Jude Heroes-Kam’s Cancer Krushers Bolton Baseball Head Coach, Scotty Yount sent me an email earlier this week. As he said, the story comes best from Kameron’s mother, Traci Patrizi. My name is Traci Patrizi and my family and I have just recently become new to the St. Jude Family. A few weeks ago my fifteen year old son Kameron was diag-nosed with cancer. Kameron was extremely active in baseball, weight lifting, and running. We had no clue what was going on inside of his body. He began to com-plain of sporatic pains in his leg, but because he had no other symptoms we as-sumed he was just over doing it. We took Kameron to the doctor to find out what was going on and received the shocking news. Kameron is a very fun loving teen who enjoys baseball, girls, and cars. Kameron had recently made a new showcase baseball team, and was working towards getting his driver's license when every-thing changed. We are very fortunate to live in a city where St. Jude's Research Hospital is at arms reach. The doctors and staff here have been absolutely amazing. They have provid-ed myself and my family with everything we need and more. I would like to give to St. Jude a portion of what they have given to my family.
I want to do more than run — I want to help run St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. That's why I'm committed to raising funds as a St. Jude Hero. I'm ready to go the distance, but I need your support.
It costs $2 million a day to operate St. Jude. Did you know that 70% of the funds come from the public? That means your donation, no matter what the size, will help!
Thanks to donors like you, no family ever receives a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food — be-cause all a family should worry about is helping their child live.

The SCIAA is creating a new initiative: November: A Month of Giving The kickoff event for the month is the SCIAA Middle School Basketball benefit Classic. The Classic will take place at the SCIAA Complex (Airways Middle School) this Saturday, November 7th. Games will begin at 10:00 am. This year’s Classic will benefit Shelby County Schools Operation: Warm Hearts. Proceeds will be used to purchase coats and winter gear for SCS Students. Come out and see some of the best middle school basketball teams! The 2015 SCIAA High School Basketball Jamboree will be held November 13th and 14th at Hamilton High School. Friday night’s games will begin at 5:00 pm with Saturday’s games beginning at 10:00 am. As a part of the SCIAA High School Basketball Jamboree we will be collecting canned food to benefit the Mid-South Food Bank. Spectators can donate 2 canned goods to receive $1.00 off of the price of admission. We encourage all schools and teams to help us get the word out! Tell your faculty, admin-istration, parents, and fans to bring their donations to the jamboree. The first ever SCIAA Thanksgiving Bowling Open will be hosted at Winchester Bowl on November 23rd. Games will begin at 3:30 pm. Admission will be canned goods or donations for the Mid-South Food Bank. All proceeds will go to the Mid-South Food bank to help local families over the holidays. The SCIAA challenges every bowling team to collect canned goods at their schools to donate in the name of their school. The SCIAA is partnering with local peewee football teams for canned food drives the weekends of November 7th, and 14th. Donations will be accepted by The Orange Mound Youth League at Halle Stadium on Nov. 7th and by The Orange Mound Raiders Youth Sports & Mentoring Program at Kirby Stadium and by the Shelby Youth Sports League at Christian Brothers Stadium on November 14th. Special thanks goes out to these youth leagues for their support.
