Dear Parents and Caregivers of Wallerawang Public School, The Closed Staff Car Park
A note was sent home last week explaining the reason for the closure.
The school is in negotiation to see if there is an alternative solution to a “drop off” and “pick up” zone.
I am holding a meeting next week to discuss the possibilities with departmental staff.
Fete
On behalf of the school, I would like to thank the P&C for the fantastic fete that was organised last Friday. A special
thankyou to Lauren Brown, Glenda Schroder, Amanda Dunn, Leslie Townsend, Karen Desch, Sheree Scanlon, David
Bird, Kylie Williams, Natalie Fooey, Heather Palmer, Amanda Kesch, Renae Bradford, Katina Taylor, Kerry Brown,
Sonia Ward and the many helpers that provided support to make this the successful day that it was. The children
enjoyed the many activities that were available and it was well attended by the school community.
Thankyou
Scripture
Scripture is held every Tuesday afternoon and is a part of Wallerawang Public School’s timetable.
If you do not wish for your child to participate in Scripture, please send a note to your child’s teacher. This process of
sending a note is in place every year. Students not attending scripture, will attend non-scripture.
Bus
There has been some confusion about bus numbers and the names of buses.
Please check Lithgow Buslines Website. https://www.buslinesgroup.com.au/lithgow
Teachers Make a Positive Difference!
We all have high expectations at Wallerawang Public School. Parents have high expectations that their children will
do well. Students have high expectations that they will learn many new skills and concepts. Teachers have high ex-
pectations that their students will focus and engage in learning programs and other co-curricular activities. I have
high expectations that students learn in quality classrooms where teachers provide explicit syllabus-driven and en-
gaging lessons which are rigorous, dignified and meaningful.
I can proudly tell you that when I visit classrooms, I witness high quality lessons delivered by outstanding teachers. I
would be thrilled if my own children were taught by any Wallerawang Public School teacher. There is an old saying
which says, "teachers make a difference". At Wallerawang Public School, "teachers make a significantly positive
difference" when it comes to maximising life and learning opportunities for children. I am very proud to lead a won-
derful team of brilliant professionals!
School Attendance
It is the aim of Wallerawang Public School to maximise student attendance so that students achieve their academic
potential and maintain a sense of belonging and connectedness to school. However, if your child is unwell it is in
their best interests to keep them at home to rest and recuperate. It is also important to respect the health and well-
being of the other students by taking reasonable measures to restrict the spread of contagious conditions.
Parent note for student absences When your child is well enough to return to school, please send them with a signed note explaining the reason for and date/s of their absence/s. If your child is sick for more than two days we encourage you to call the school office. It is part of procedure for parents to be contacted by the class teacher if a student is absent for more than 2 days.
Yours in Education

PSSA Cricket On Tuesday, despite less than favourable weather ,13 fantastic students participated in a game of cricket against
Eglinton P.S in the PSSA cricket knockout. The team won the toss and decided to field. Our bowlers and fieldsman
performed wonderfully. Accurate bowling and catching saw the opposition loose wickets. They set our team a goal
of 119 to win the game. Wallerawang went in to bat and gave their best, but we were finally out for 105. Both teams
displayed outstanding sportsmanship and this made the game a friendly and enjoyable game. Our team could not
have participated without parental support who gave their time to coach the team and be there at the game. Many
thanks to Barry Jackson for giving his time to help with coaching over the last few weeks and for being there to
make sure we were organized for the day. To Josh Way for taking on the job of helping out with the team and guid-
ing the team on the day, to Shaun McMillan for umpiring and Annalisse Borgstahl for scoring on the day.
A thankyuou to all the parents and grandparents who supported the team by watching the game on the day. I am so
proud of the team. They played a great game and all gave their best. You were a pleasure to be with.

National day of
Action Against
Bullying
On Friday 16 March 2018, Australian schools will stand united in their commu-nities to celebrate the eighth National Day of Action
against Bullying and Violence (NDA).
Wallerawang Public has been involved every year and this year we will be giving students a free wrist-band showing how we all ‘stand together’ to stop bullying. Classes are learning about Bullying with Mrs Dick in Personal Development lessons and Cyber-bullying with Mrs Nancarrow in Computer lessons
leading up to next Friday.

Last week our SRC and School leaders participated in their official paw patrol training. The Paw
Patrol team volunteer one playtime during the week to go hunting for students being RESPECT-
FUL, RESPONSIBLE and SAFE to reward with a Gotcha. Already this has been very successful with
students enjoying the positive acknowledgement from their peers. The Paw Patrol team were so
excited to finally meet Wangaroo in person and have their photo taken. I know Wangaroo is very
proud of them for being so RESPOSNIBLE.
At our last assembly, excitement levels were at an all-time high. Students from each class emptied
their Gotcha’s into the big Gotcha box. We were so close to filling it up but did not quite get there.
If you are free on Friday morning, I strongly urge you to come along to our assembly and see if we
have finally made it to the arrow. Each student will receive an ice cream with sprinkles on Friday if
we reach our target!
Thank you,
