SCHOOL FOR PARENTS PROGRAM

School for Parents 2013/2014

The "School for Parents" program aims to delay the onset of drinking by minors. The program started in 2013. The main idea is to inform parents about the causes and risks of early alcohol consumption and family forms of communication that can prevent it.

During the school year 2013/2014 we invited psychotherapists Virginia Zaharieva and Madeleine Algafari and Dr. Peter Kralev to host a series of informal seminars for parents. The seminars were able to show how to build and stand parental authority, but also how to develop skills equivalent communication between parent and child.

The underage drinking is a public challenge that can be overcome only through joint efforts, so this year we look for new partners. We found them in the face of teachers - people who communicate with children exclusively in their daily lives and who - at least from their parents - form their overall attitude to the world, their personal values and social adaptability. This year, our partner is also the State Agency for Child Protection, which we will work long-term. In the academic year 2014/2015

under the umbrella of the "School for Parents“ program we launched the campaign “School for parents meetings in a bar." The meetings take place in an informal atmosphere in the form of dialogue between parents, teachers of 10-13 years old children and psychologists. Expert team create Manual of teacher and parent handbook. The campaign started in the beginning of the

school year in September and in October we launched online platform dedicated to the "School for Parents" available for any responsible parent and teacher on web address www.predi18.org.

For three months since the beginning of the program we had 8 schools from Sofia participating and over 200 parents involved . The web site www.predi18.org has over

1000 unique views. The program has very good media coverage - over 22 publications in print and online media, radio and television interviews.
