The evolution of Darwin
February 6–April 26
Maximus Gallery
Two hundred years after his birth, Charles Darwin remains an imposing figure in the history of science. Though he wasn’t the first to speculate that the earth had gradually evolved over a vast period of time, his brilliant powers of observation and a lifetime of investigation culminated in the publication of The Origin of Species, a work that rocked established thought and transformed our understanding of the living world. This exhibition highlights specimens, objects, and works of art that trace the important influences on Darwin’s life and thought.
Dear Friends,
As we pursue our mission to inspire a passion for the natural world, we want to set an example of sustainable “green” living in all we do at the Museum.
Toward that end, we have redesigned the sbnature calendar. The new calendar in your hands uses less paper and is printed by an FSC-certified printer. This means that the Forest Stewardship Council recognized the printer as a company that utilizes green printing initiatives which integrate environmental protection and sustainability by using paper products manufactured in a responsible manner from responsibly managed forests.
The new design provides all the vital information in a concise format and refers you for more specific details to the Museum’s online calendar at www.sbnature.org.
If you wish, you can help us take sustainability even one step further by choosing to receive only a digital version of the sbnature calendar. To subscribe to the digital sbnature calendar, go to www.sbnature.org/getconnected and complete the online form.
Please watch for a wealth of exciting happenings in 2009 and be sure to join us at the Museum and Sea Center for fun and educational exhibits, events and programs throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Karl L. Hutterer Executive Director
