Scholarship Information

Your theatre education begins with our three-semester foundational classes!Complete this core rotation and be able to participate in elective classes!

 Page to Stage $75Make the story come to life in this exciting low-pressure class! Each week features a new story, imaginatively presented through acting, music, movement, and art!

Kindergarten and 1st Grade 9–10am

 Broadway Bound $100Continue developing your performance skills in thisintermediate level musical theatre class! Build on whatyou know and take your talent to the next level! Thisclass performs two musicals—one holiday musical andone spring musical. There are extra rehearsals beyondthe six-week semester for this class.3rd–5th Grades 12–1pm

 Performance Lab $100Both beginning and returning students discover exciting ways to bring characters to life on stage! Students build on established skills and develop more advanced acting techniques. This class culminates in a holiday play in December and another in the spring!

9th–12th Grades 12–1pm

 The Crew $75(plus the cost of a make-up kit)

Ever wondered how theatre makeup and costumes can bring a character to life? Or how just the right set and lighting can transport you right into the story? Learn the basics of what it means to be apart of The Crew in this Master Class style offering!

6th–12th Grades 9–10am

 On Camera Acting $100This course is designed for students who are new to being on-camera or those who want to further develop their audition skills and confidence. Students will learn and practice the difference between on stage acting and on camera acting.

9th–12th Grades 10–11am

 Performance Lab: Musical Theatre $100Dive in to the magical world of musical theatre inthis new class! Students will add to their basic dance,acting, and vocal skills while exploring more advancedtechniques. This class will culminate in an informal,in-class presentation of a musical theatre performance.

6th–12th Grades 1–2pm

 Starlight Dance $75Starlight dancers will explore different styles of Musical Theatre dance, including the portrayal of characters through movement and an introduction to improvisation dance. *Black jazz shoes are required for this class. The class will culminate with a performance.

6th–8th Grades 11am–12pm

 Showstopper Dance $75This class is designed for high school students with any amount of dance experience (including none). Showstoppers will learn about expression, characterization, and control while dancing as part of a larger ensemble. *Black jazz shoes for boys and tan character shoes (1.5” heel) are required for this class. The class will culminate with a performance.

9th–12th Grades 12–1pm

• Students must pre-register for classes.

• Payment deadline for the first term is October 9, 2021.

• A late fee of $10 will be added to any registration received after the payment deadline.

• Class size is limited and classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

• We reserve the right to combine or cancel any class not filled to minimum enrollment requirements.

Please note that your student is not officially registered until payment has been processed by Muskegon Civic Theatre. Your child’s spot may be filled by another student if your payment is not submitted and there is a wait list for the class.

We accept cash, check or credit card for tuition payment.

Showstopping Elective Opportunities! Improv $75This spirited, fun course is designed for the actor or comedian who wants to learn the essentials of good scenic improvisation or anyone who wants to improve their teamwork or communication skills. Through warm-up exercises, creative performance games, and basic short-form scene-work, you will learn how to be more spontaneous, trusting and cooperative and how to listen in a fun, creative atmosphere. The objectives of this course are to discover the fundamentals of improvisational comedy, improve your storytelling skills, learn techniques to think quickly on your feet and to be more creative!

9th–12th Grades 11am–12pm

 Crescendo Show Choir $75Crescendo Show Choir is dedicated to teaching the joy of singing and performing to teens. We focus on vocal education through choral singing along with choreography, including contemporary, Broadway, and popular songs of yesterday and today. Crescendo Show Choir offers many exciting performance opportunities throughout the year.Ages 13–18 10–11am

• Each class is important for all students, and missed classes cannot be made up.

• No financial credit will be given for missed classes.

• Visitors are not permitted in the classroom so that each student will be more comfortable making creative choices.

• Each term will conclude with an Observation Day for parents to sit in on their children’s classes.

Partial scholarships are available for families who demonstrate need. To receive consideration for aid, the following items must be submitted by October 1, 2019:

• School lunch program documentation

• Letter of recommendation from a teacher

• MCT Scholarship application available online or thorugh the MCT office

• Application fee ($10)
