Welcome to the second annual Blue Pride Palooza! I am often amazed at the passion and enthusiasm for our Blue Pride Community. We gather tonight in hopes of continuing our efforts to harness this powerful energy.

By your presence tonight, it is clear that AHS and the Attleboro Community are very important to you, and I hope that you enjoy this event presented by the Blue Pride Ambassadors Club. For those not familiar with the BPAC, our Mission is to enhance the

educational experience for students and staff at AHS and our goal is to connect as many friends of Attleboro each year to generate and sustain Blue Pride momentum.

AHS continues to produce high-caliber graduates who are prepared for college, the workforce, and the military. This is due to the efforts of our passionate faculty and staff. However, as we are halfway through the 2nd decade of the 21st Century, we must foster teaching and learning that will engage, challenge, and inspire our students. Our teachers, staff and administration are truly blessed to have such dedicated family, friends and staff who continually support our school and the quality education offered here at Attleboro High School in both big and small ways.

By raising over $50,000 at last year’s Palooza, the BPAC was able to double the amount of Chromebook carts, mobile computer labs, at AHS. In addition, all 10 Chromebook carts (each containing 30 Chromebooks) have been equipped with high definition projectors. With tonight’s proceeds, we hope to further the great success with mobile labs made possible with Chromebook carts. Currently, our 150+ staff members share 10 carts (300 Chromeboooks). It is the BPAC’s goal to provide at least $50,000 again for more Chromebook carts. Thank you to all of the parents and friends of our Blue Pride Community who made this year’s event possible and thank you for your generosity, continued support of our school’s mission and your attendance at tonight’s event. Happy bidding!

Dear Friends of the AHS Community,

We would like to welcome each of you to our second annual Blue Pride Palooza Dinner Auction! This event was a culmination of efforts in order to bring the most enjoyable evening of friends, family, and community together to benefit the students of Attleboro High School.

At a time when technology is imperative to the learning of our students, we feel that our initiative to provide additional Chromebook Carts to AHS will help us improve learning at AHS.

The BPAC is grateful to the many individuals and businesses that have donated items for tonight’s event. Please patronize these establishments and individuals when shopping for goods and services. A list of donors and services is provided at the end of this booklet as well as our BPAC website – ahsbpac.com.

We would also like to thank all the parent, student and staff volunteers for their effort in making this year’s auction a success. Thank you for sharing your time, talent, and treasure.

Sincerely,The Blue Pride Ambassadors Club Board

Help Us Improve Learning at AHS. Funds Raised Tonight Will Make a Difference!

Tonight, all proceeds raised will be used directly to help the students of AHS have more access to technology and will give our educators the tools they need to transform their classroom into an active learning environment.

Proceeds raised from our first Palooza, over $50,000, gave our faculty and students access to over 300 chromebook computers. We accomplished this amazing result by using the funds from our first Palooza to purchase 5 new Chromebook Carts (mobile computer labs consisting of 30 chromebooks) and upgrade 5 existing Chromebook Carts. We hope this evenings event will match or exceed last years achievement.

AHS Technology Initiative

“Chromebooks have helped transform the student's classroom experience from a passive one to a more active one. That is, students are taking on a more hands-on role in their classes because the chrome books give them the ability to access information and create things. The chrome books are also a vehicle that allow for problem-solving and essential 21st century skill development such as digital collaboration.”

- Mr. Kevin Gorman, ELA Department Coordinator

“Chromebooks have helped us students to expand our learning immensely. Not only are they convenient for teachers, but they have given us the opportunity to explore various different sources related to the topics we learn to get a better understanding on the subject matter.”

- Ally DeRose '17

What Is a Chromebook Cart?

A Chromebook Cart will securely house 30 Chromebook laptop computers along with wireless routers and an Ethernet connection. These carts have the capability to charge all the laptops at one time. And, the carts can easily be moved from classroom to classroom. Therefore, this academic technology will be available to many of our students for interactive learning opportunities.

1. What Does My Bidder Number Mean? This is the number on the back of the program we gave you. This is YOUR individual/household bidder number for the auction. Use this number when you bid on a “Silent Auction” item. Just write your number on the bidder sheet in front of the

Silent Auction item(s). (Highest bid wins) Use this number when you bid on a “Live Auction” item by raising your number high in the air so the auctioneer can

see it. (Highest bid wins.)

2. Where is the Silent Auction? -- Check out the Pink, Yellow and Orange tables around the room. A Silent Auction is when you place your bid(s) on a piece of paper, in front of a Silent Auction item. Other bidders will also bid on the item, so stay on your toes and bid often. When the auction table closes, the highest bidder will be identified. The Silent Auctions begins at 6PM.

We have the 3 tables. Pink, Yellow and Orange You can bid and enter your bidder number as many times as you choose. There is a minimum opening bid and a minimum incremental bid. (Explained on bidding sheets) The highest bidder will win the prize and their account will be charged. The Silent Auction tables will close at 7:45, 7:55 and 8:05 – strategically plan your bidding. Before 8:40, we will let all bidders know what Silent Auction items they won. A Winners Sheet will be sent to each table.

3. How Does the Live Auction Work? A professional auctioneer will facilitate the Live Auction. The Live Auction will begin during dinner; we will let you know which Silent Auction items you won as the Live Auction begins. There are 20+ Live Auction Items you can bid on. Just raise your number to bid (on back of program). The auctioneer will walk you through the process. The highest bidder will win. You’ll know immediately if you won during the Live Auction! This is lots of fun and everyone can participate.

4. How Do I Collect the Items I Won? Check out is in the back room, behind the bar. You will go to check out to pay for your merchandise. Then, you will go to Merchandise Pick-Up to get your goods. One of our students can help carry items to your car. Please ask for assistance, if needed.

Palooza Auction FAQ

“As a math teacher, I am challenged every day with trying to teach students with various needs. Having Chromebooks in the classroom allows me to move away from traditional classroom instruction and give students the ability to personalize their individual learning based on their individual needs. Chromebooks give students immediate access to hundreds of instructional videos on hundreds of math topics and hundreds of practice problems. Students receive immediate feedback as they work towards reaching mastery. When my students are learning a lesson using Chromebooks, my role is more as a facilitator rather than the gate keeper of information.” - Laura Williams, AHS Teacher

Please take a moment to look at the lollipop flowerpots scattered throughout the room. “As a special education teacher at the high school, I have taught in a variety of classroom settings, as well as many different content areas. A focus of mine has always been to set high expectations and to make learning relevant. Chrome carts have allowed me to model 21st century skills with research and applying that skill in other classes. I have utilized the chrome carts that we currently have at the high school to allow students different options to show their knowledge of content through digital presentations, typing instead of writing, and speech to text, just to name a few. Chrome carts have allowed me to help students create resumes and apply for jobs in a setting that is more comfortable for them. The portability of chrome carts allows me to teach my students self-determination and self-advocacy skills by checking and tracking their own grades, following up on job interviews via email, and researching their own post-secondary options and creating a plan. There are many positive and versatile ways to utilize chrome carts within the classroom that I have not yet had the opportunity to explore, but could if we had greater access to such technology.” - Stephanie Forte, AHS Teacher and Transition Specialist
