“ Dancing in our World.”
DANCING IN OUR WORLD
Afternoon Visit In June, Oklahoma
hosted their fifth Na-
tional Square Dance
Convention. Oklahoma
dancers came through
once again and pulled off another Great
Convention. Gene and Barbara Morton,
George and Shirley Hazlett, You made
Oklahoma Proud.
One of Oklahoma’s Greatest Square
Dance Callers has retired. Henry and Bar-
bara Israel took an interest in Square
Dancing in 1971 which led to their learn-
ing to Square Dance and then calling for
the Square Dancers. Henry and Barbara
called for Circle 8 Square Dance Club in
OKC from September 1978 to June 2013,
they also called for Fun Timers Square
Dance Club in Midwest City and for Star
Promenaders Square Dance Club in
Lawton. They will not be forgotten.
We hope that everyone had a safe July 4th
and celebrated with your loved ones.
The Snow White Bandit has been making
its rounds around Oklahoma and may be
coming your way soon. Make sure that
you have your Festival Tickets and are
ready to sell. The car is a beauty and will
draw in the car enthusiasts for you. Re-
member to get out and sell, sell, sell.
On Friday, July 12th we visited Rt. 66
Jamboree in Elk City. They did a Wonder-
ful Job decorating the hall and we were
very impressed with how clean everything
looked. They had several really Great
Callers to dance to.
We are very sad to report that on July 20th,
North Central District held their last dance
at the Sanger Ridge Elm. School. Their
district mem-
bership was too
low and most of
their members
are suffering
with age and
health issues to
have enough
dancers to keep
the district go-
ing. We hope to
see them out
attending other
dances in the
near future.
On Sunday,
July 21st, Cen-
tral District
hosted the Cen-
tral District’s President Dance at the Westside
Lion’s Hall, this was a visit 9 dance.

We have gotten a lot of response with our
1980 Pontiac Trans Am at the visitations we have
been on. We have been to Southern District at
McAlester for the Italian Festival with a good turn-
out. The Route 66 Festival in Clinton was great.
We were in the car show and our car received a 1st
Place Plaque in the 1980 Category. The first of
June the Trans Am traveled to Green Country, then
we were off to Weatherford for another Car show
& Cruise that was a lot of fun. We were off to Mar-
low for the 4th of July Festival, a lot of tickets were
sold that day. The 19th of July we traveled to
Woodward for the weekend for more fun in the sun
& ticket sales. Some districts have already been
asking for more tickets the rest of you better get
busy somebody is going to win the Victory Dance.
SELL ~ SELL ~ SELL, but have fun.

Once again I am trying
to put my thoughts
about the 67th state
festival on paper. Time
is sure passing fast.
There are approxi-
mately 105 days until
the festival.
We are asking for help-
ers to help put the floor
down on Thursday eve-
ning. If we get help, it
won't take very long.
The pre-party dinner
will be the next night. I
know it will be a fun
event. Ron and Barbara
are working very hard
so we will all have a
great meal and dance.
The festival will be a
great time. Don't forget
to make your hotel
room reservations early.
The more rooms we
reserve the better off
we are.
Please help us make this
weekend a fun filled
time for Glen and Linda
weight on her foot for a
month.
State Ticket sales for the Festival are going
great! SW will be vying
for that Victory Dance by
having the largest per-
centage increase. Look-out Southern here we
come.
Hub City Squares in
Clinton will be hosting
Southwest District has
been having a great time
dancing at our club dances and at the Route
66 Jamboree. The Jam-
boree is still growing and
more and more dancers
are having more and
more fun.
The Southwest Dis-
trict Fall Festival will be
October 19 in Vernon, TX with Dean Dederman
calling. It is a visit 9
dance and a State Offi-
cers Visitation. Put us on your calendars now and
come have a great time
on a great wood floor.

nor foot surgery to have a cyst removed and the
doctors discovered she
had two tendons that

Would you write an Article? We are looking for square dancers to write a POSITIVE article about something happened, happening, or someone that you think did a BIG PLUS for square dancing. Let’s toot our own horn and let the square
dance world know that there are great things happening in square dancing. We hear so much about what
is wrong or we are loosing dancers and clubs, we can’t get students. Why can we not hear about the GOOD things? The media says pain and terror sell newspapers. Well, we just want to feel good when
we read about square dancers and we do not have to pay for our email copy of the SASHAY.
Oklahoma dancers, thank you, Thank You, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Your help and
support of the 62nd National Square Dance Convention made this event a success. After
many hours and countless miles driven, more meetings than could seem humanly possible
the 62nd is now history. With over 600 hundred Oklahoma dancers working during the
convention you certainly made the 3.500 others dancers from around the world welcome.
From the General Chairman, Assistant General Chairman, Secretary, Legal Adviser and all
of the Sooner Board, Thank You
Ed and Connie Baker—62nd Publicity Chairman
North Central District—Tom and Margene Pearce, President
Hello everyone. I hope it is not as
warm and sticky where you are.
The rains were wonderful and very
much needed, but now you feel like
you are melting in to a pool.
The North Central District has de-
cided that it can no longer continue
dancing. July 20, 2013 is going to
be their last dance. They are going
to have the final dance at Sanger
Ridge School in Stillwater, OK. It is
going to be a Visit Nine and will be-
gin at 8:00. The club will be there
earlier to set up chairs and things.
We do not care how early you get
there, it just makes more time for
visiting. We have invited people
that used to dance with us in the
District that we have not seen in
years. We hope to have a good
time of fellowship and fun. If you
are able to come we appreciate it
very much. If you do not get to
come we are sorry that you missed
it.
Tom and I plan to dance around
at some of the special dances in
the state when we can. We have 2
granddaughters that are very ac-
tive in sports. The oldest plays at
Benedictine college in Atchison,
KS and they went to Nationals last
year. The youngest is going to be a
sophomore in high school and as a
freshman she went to State in 4
events last year. She pitched on
the fast pitch softball team, played
on the basketball team, played
golf, and then played 3rd base on
the slow pitch team that also went
to State.
Hope to see each and everyone of
you in a square sometime. We
have really, really enjoyed dancing
with you all and it is sad to not be
doing it as a steady thing any
longer.
May God Bless each and everyone.

Well the fun and fellowship of summer-
time is winding down and it is time to
get back to the business of square danc-
ing, not that many of us have noticed
that we haven’t done this all summer.
Many of our dancers attended the 62nd
Nationals in OKC. What a trip. Gene &
Barbara, George & Shirley, you guys did
real good. We met up with a lot of old
acquaintances and met some new
friends. Other than our back and feet
hurting, everything was great. If you
missed it, you missed one fantastic party.
One of our clubs, Ramblers, will dance
throughout the summer. They will dance
on July 26, August 9 and 23. They
dance at the Church of Christ Family
Life Center at 1900 West Rogers, Skia-
took. Come to Skiatook and dance with
this “fun bunch”.
We lost one club at the end of May, the
Bartlesville Boot Scooters. This is al-
ways a sad occasion. We hope that these
dancers will keep on going and dance
with other clubs. They are a great bunch
and the trips to Bartlesville will be
missed
The dancers of our district are so enthu-
siastic and friendly that we know this
will continue to be a great year for
square dancing and for SDAGC. We
look forward to seeing each of you in a
square somewhere. We will be ever pre-
sent at many square dance functions, en-
joying the company of our square dance
friends. The next big get-together will
be the Fall Round-up. We will be anx-
ious to see you there. Remember we are
only a S – M – I – L – E away so come
on over.
Jim & Julia, President
Square Dance Association of Green
Country
On a personal note, thank you to all of
you for your cards, calls, prayers and
words of condolence with the loss of
Julia’s mother. Mom would have been
97 in October. She lived a long and sat-
isfying life. Her last 3 years were spent
in the Cimarron Pointe Care Center in
Mannford and she always said they were
very good years. Thank you for the love
sent our way.

South Central District—Avery and Missy Fuller
Let's Twirl and
Swing 2013
Greetings and Saluta-
tions from South Cen-
tral District.
Well where to start.
South Central District
is doing well and go-
ing strong. Since last I
spoke to you we've
had a lot of fun dances
that kept us busy
throughout the times.
We have been able to
maintain six clubs and
they are going strong
as ever. Now that Na-
tionals are over with
and everybody has
rested up somewhat,
we can start looking
towards our own Okla-
homa State Festival in
November. As every-
one knows, the SCD
has been tasked with
the fashion show and
exhibitions/
entertainment for your
enjoyment. Right now
we've got about 12 or
14 couples that have
graciously volunteered
to be model couples.
Still, I would like to
have a about five more
couples to help fill the
hour-long time frame
that we have allotted.
So please, if you
would like to be in the
fashion show, email
me or let your district
presidents know and
we will get the appro-
priate paperwork out
to you all. I know we
have a lot of very
beautiful women and
handsome men in
Oklahoma, so I'm
looking forward to
hearing from you. As
far as exhibitions/
entertainment goes I
am keeping that a se-
cret.
Now then, as far as
upcoming events in
the SCD, we have two
events coming up in
August. The first one
will be on August 10,
which is going to be
our fall round up. Our
SCD, 2nd Vice Presi-
dents Lonnie and Jody
Billings & I would
like to take this oppor-
tunity to invite each
and every one of you
to come out and enjoy
an evening of " Twist-
ing With the Leader of
the Pack ". This will
be a Chubby Checker
era themed dance. We
will have a big time of
twisting & shouting
and having a good
time. Who knows, there
might even be a toga
there somewhere. So
please come out with us
and enjoy yourselves. I
know you will.
Our second event will be
on August 31, which is a
fifth Saturday, and that's
when we'll have our
medical benefit dance.
Every year the SCD puts
on a dance that goes to
benefit a nonprofit char-
ity organization that
deals with the medical
and dental aspects of the
less fortunate. We go out
and ask for donations
from local businesses to
be auctioned off. In the
past we've had items like
a full set of tires from
Goodyear, jewelry,
handmade arts and crafts
and other items that peo-
ple just donate for a
charitable cause. Last
year the SCD delegates
raised over $3400 at this
event and I know this
year our delegates have
worked hard to obtain
items so that they can
beat last year's donation.
So again, please, if you
want to help out some-
body who is less fortu-
nate than yourself, and
you find yourself in or
around Lawton, stop in,
I'm sure there's some-
thing you can take home
with you.
As to who is going to
call these two events?
I'm very proud to say
that the callers of the
South Central District
Callers Association
will volunteer their
time and energy to
make these two dances
very energetic and en-
joyable evenings for all
who attend. My thanks
goes out in advance
Jerry Stover, Scott
Bennett, Johnny Car-
roll, Tim Tanner, Joe
Crane and Larry How-
ard for all their help. I
also want to thank
Larry Howard, who (I
believe) for being our
auctioneer of the day.
If you have any ques-
tions about either of
these events, please
feel free to contact me,
or any other SCD offi-
cer for information.
And as usual, those of
us from South Central
District cordially invite
you all to any of our
dances. If you find
yourself in the Lawton,
or Chickasha areas
come out and visit us.
We'll be honored to
have you as our guests.
We hope to see you
all soon.

Biltmore Hotel will
provide us with the very best they have to
offer. Make your room reservations
early for only $69 a room night which in-
cludes a wonderful
Breakfast Buffet.
We will see you on Friday night,
November 1st!!!!
Hi Everyone. Hope you all are re-
covered from the
62nsdc in OKC last month. What a fabu-
lous time!! We got re-acquainted with many
old friends from past conventions and made
a lot of new friends as
well. We are ready now for the Little
Rock, AR 63rd NSDC.
Speaking of be-
ing ready…….we are
so ready for the up-
coming 2013 OSDF
Pre-Party and State Festival scheduled for
Friday, November 1st
and Saturday, Novem-ber 2nd. Pre-party
plans are in the proc-
ess of being finalized at this very moment and
we wish to extend an
invitation for all of you to plan on attending
this wonderful annual event. The pre-party is
a special time where our outgoing Presiden-
tial couple is honored
as well as the ticket sellers who did so very
well with their selling of those tickets for the
Pontiac Trans Am.
Great things are in store for everyone so
make your plans early. Invitations will be dis-
tributed at the OSDF Fall Round-up in Sep-
tember and everyone
is invited. We plan on
have its regular dance on
September 7 with Robert
Hutton calling and the
Plus dance in September
will be the 19th with Don
Main.
As of right now Keyes
does not have any dances
scheduled.
August 23 & 24 many of
the people in our area are
planning on going to
Laveta,Co. to dance with
Jimmy Gouge and
Freddie McKee. It is al-
ways a good time.
Judy Tindell reporting
Summer is passing so
fast and with the recent
cooler weather it is like a
reminder that fall is
around the corner Which
will be great for lessons
to begin and the clubs in
the area will get back to
dancing. Perryton Prome-
naders have been travel-
ing to dance. There were
14 people from the dis-
trict that attended the Na-
tional Convention and
there were reports of
great fun from everyone.
August 3 Cecil Burton
will be calling in Perryton
and August 15 Rod &
Lois Ford will be calling
a Plus Dance. We will be
having a SPECIAL
DANCE on August 28.
We will be lucky to have
Ken Bower calling a
dance at Perryton for the
pleasure of the dancers in
our area. Make plans to
be in Perryton on Wed.
Aug. 28 for a really good
dance. Now we are look-
ing at September and Per-
ryton will begin lessons
on Sept. 9 with Rod &
Lois Ford at the VFW
building. Perryton will

We thanked them for
coming; and, they
thanked us for our hospi-

written with love, grati-

joy streamed down our
face as we read their

Summer is in full throttle
and the Visit 9 trail is hot!
For those who went to the
Route 66, wasn’t that a fun,
festive Visit 9. I just like to
go each year to see what
decorations they are going
to have! Thank all who
made that such a great
dance. There will be a
Panhandle Visit 9 on a
Wednesday night, this will
be a first for us and are
looking forward to that long
drive, but the hospitality
always makes it worthwhile.
Oh look..and smell the
Southern District Visit 9
Bbq is coming!!! If you
haven’t been to this I shall
say you are missing some
great barbeque and fixings!
Last year there were so
many deviled eggs I couldn’t
count them, I am still over-
whelmed by the mere
thought of cracking all
those eggs! There is a V9
medical benefit in SC Dis-
trict and that always is
something to watch and
participate in. Don’t make
any sudden hand move-
ments or you could end up
with a high bid. It’s good
to donate to help the cause
they have chosen yearly.
There are no Visit 9 dances
in September. We hope to
see you at one or all of
these dances. We are en-
joying seeing the Visit 9
dancers at the dances. If
you would like to know
more about the Visit 9 pro-
gram email or call and we
will send you a brochure.
**Always check with
the district before you
travel to a Visit 9 to
make sure there are no
changes**
