SAMPLE LESSON INSTRUCTIONS REAL SPANISH ahora mismo LEVEL II This sample lesson includes examples from 3 different sources : Partner Conversa,ons (available as a printed color flip book and as an eBook for projec>ng in the classroom), the Student Ac,vity Book, and the Teacher’s Guide. We have outlined general instruc>ons, but the pacing of the ac>vi>es below should be gauged according to the level and comfort of the students. INSTRUCTIONS : Start with the Partner Conversa,on. Model it for your students un>l they are very comfortable with the pronuncia>on. Then, let them prac>ce with their partner. You can circulate, listen to different groups, and model correct pronuncia>on. AJer a liKle while, have them switch partners. You may want to have everyone stand up in two lines, face to face, and the students can cycle through and prac>ce with many different partners. Once students are comfortable, you may choose a group or two to perform the conversa>on for the class. Then move on to the ac>vi>es in the Student Ac,vity Book. Discuss daily ac>vi>es informally with your class, leNng them discuss with their partner (using the prompt in Ac-vidad 1) and then as a whole group. AJer the discussion, students can complete Ac-vidad 2, transla>ng simple sentences from Spanish to English. When they have finished, correct the ac>vity together. Next, you can move on to the Ac-vidad 3, where students prac>ce using the vocabulary without necessarily looking back at the conversa>on. Next is Ac-vidad 4, an oral presenta>on. Give your students >me to fill it out, and let them know that they will be responsible for memorizing and presen>ng it in a future class. Give them some >me to prepare and memorize it during class. Finally, once the students feel very comfortable with the vocabulary and structures in the conversa>on, you can use one or both of the mixers from the Teacher's Guide. Photocopy the mixer, and make sure you have enough copies to give one card to each student. Cut them out, and distribute a card to each student. Encourage the students to mill around the room and talk to as many people as possible, asking and answering the ques>ons from the conversa>on. Ring a bell, and have them switch cards with someone and repeat the ac>vity. During the next class, you may have the students prac>ce the conversa>on and do the mixer once again. You will also want to have them present their oral presenta>ons, and you can use the simple rubric in the Teacher's Guide. The students can also complete Ac-vidad 5 and Ac-vidad 6, a listening comprehension exercise and a short wri>ng ac>vity. We have provided two evalua>ons, a listening comprehension quiz and a vocabulary quiz for your use.
