We recognizethat occasionally a parent or community member may inadvertently overdraw a checking account and a checkmay be returned by your bank. In order to recover these funds in a private and professional manner, we havecontracted with CHECKredi, LLC, a company based in Lexington, Kentucky for collection of returned checks.When a check is written and made payable to the district, the person writing the check agrees that, if the checkis returned that it may be represented electronically on the same account, and that the fee established by law,now $25.00 in addition to the face value, may be debited from the same account. If not collected within the

initial 7 days, the fee will increase to $35.00. CHECKredi will contact you by mail and by telephone in orderto make arrangements to pay before attempting to represent the check electronically. Payments may be madeto CHECKredi’s ofce by mail to P.O. Box 11848, Lexington, KY 40578. Payments of the check and feemay also be made online at www.checkredi.com using a credit card, debit card or electronic check without anyadditional fees. For a convenience fee, payments may be made over the telephone at (866) 433-7334 by creditcard, debit card or electronic check.

What is Community Education? Community Education is the educational philosophy that underlies community schools and advocatesthe creation of opportunities for community members – individuals, schools, businesses, and publicand private organizations – to become partners in addressing community needs. CommunityEducation is most easily recognized in the community school, a facility that is open beyond thetraditional school day for the purpose of providing academic, recreation, health, social service, andwork-preparation programs for people of all ages.

Instructor: Master Dot Stoddard, Winter Fest Committee Chair Enjoy an exciting day of contests highlighting the “Best of the Best” of ChoiKwang Do Martial Art International! The 2nd Annual Michigan Choi KwangDo Winter Festival will held at Heritage Elementary School on Saturday,January 31, 2015. Watch as students and instructors from around the worldcompete in skill contests highlighting patterns, speed drills and power airshields. This is not a typical martial art competition, as Choi Kwang Do doesnot demonstrate one human kicking or punching another. The action willbegin at 9 a.m. in the Heritage School gym. Categories include Team 7 ColorBelts and Black Belts and Demonstration Team Contests. Trophy awards arepresented for rst, second, and third place in each category and age group pluscerticates and medals. Choi Kwang Do utilizes bi-lateral movementswhich have been proven scientically to reduce hostility in students. You willwitness an amazingly warm and friendly atmosphere as we welcome and cheerstudents from around the world!This event is free to spectors.

Instructor: Dot Stoddard The NO FUSS way to enjoy the day! Your child invites as many as 15 friefor high action art, games and pizza. We supply the pizza and drinks for echild, all the paper products and plenty of fun ways to cut the cake and engift time. We will set up the party room, run games in the adjoining roomand serve pizza “maritial arts style!” You supply the cake and guests. Wedo the clean up! A 3.5 hour party is $50.00. Decorations, plates, cups, tabcloths, forks, desert plates and napkins are all included. Call the CommunEducation ofce at 734-429-8020 for availability and options.

Instructor: Kathe Suddendorf Colored pencil is a great way to begin to learn to paint without the mess. Themany lessons learned in this class are transferrable to other mediums. If you

already paint, but nd that you like to paint very “tightly” and use a lot of“detailing,” this medium is right up your alley. You will learn about the colorwheel, different techniques including burnishing, blending, and mixing colors(Yes, you can do that in pencil!). Kathe will teach you her “18 Pencil” method.*There is a $10 materials fee due to the instructor at the rst class.

Instructor:Kathe Suddendorf We will be painting “dibby-dab” style with acrylics on a 16x20 canvas. Oursubject is a beautiful bouquet of lilacs, perfect for a mother’s day gift or tokeep yourself! Rain gardens alleviate problems associatedwith ooding and drainage; recharge the ground water supply on site; keepwater clean by ltering stormwater before it enters local waterways; providehabitat and food for wildlife, including butteries when populated withnative plants; and enhance the beauty of individual yards and communities.Participants will learn: What a rain garden is, how rain gardens work, how todesign a rain garden and how to build a rain garden.

Participants will learn thecore concepts underlying sustainable landscaping with particular emphasison native plants and rain gardens. Participants will learn how to: Incorporatenative plants into the landscape to provide increased habitat, completelyeliminate the use of pesticides and herbicides, drastically reduce the use ofpotable water, capture and use rain water to create beautiful beds throughthe use of rain gardens, create a strikingly beautiful property with year longaesthetic interest.

Come join us for a women’s running programwhere all tness levels and abilities are welcome. This program is designed tohelp you take big steps towards reaching your running and tness goals. Wewill focus on running endurance, strength, and technique. Come dressed torun outdoors and ready to have a good time. On those days that are too coldand blustery we will have indoor activities to do some exercises designed tostrengthen your running and overall tness.

Instructor: Sandy Stafford Hey Ladies! After a long winter are you ready to get outside and work towardssummer tness? Interested in running a 5k, maybe more or simply have funwith a great group of people? This fun, positive and energetic group willcertainly help you beat the winter blues, motivate you to get outside in thefresh air and help everyone work towards better tness. Driver Education

nstructor: Bruce Ross

Guidelines and requirements:• Students must be 14 years and 8 months old before the rst day of class.• In addition to normal classroom lecture and discussion, weekly written

assignments and quizzes will be given to evaluate each student’s progress. Acerticate of completion will be given at the end of the course.

• Actual on-road driving time will consist of six hours in order to meet thestate certication guidelines.

• Attendance: State law requires 24 hours of classroom instruction and 6hours of behind-the wheel instruction. *Anything less than 24 hours willresult in the student being dropped from the program.

Guidelines and requirements:• It is recommended that the student be 15 years and 9 months old before the

rst day of class.• Students must have completed Part I and received a Validated Green

Certicate.• Students must obtain a Level 1 Learners License at the Secretary of State

prior to taking Part II.• Students must hold a Level 1 Learners License for 90 days prior to the rst

day of class.• Students must have completed a total of 30 hours of driving time with a

parent/guardian prior to the rst day of class.

Obstacle Dash is a fun and challenging programthat gives your child a feeling of accomplishment and the understanding thathe or she can conquer any obstacle life puts in front of them. Once a week yourchild will have been led through different exercises that work on producingand resisting force, speed, coordination, agility and balance in an obstacle courseformat. Our coaches are trained to modify every obstacle to t each child’sage level while also having the knowledge to safely guide them through everyactivity. Instructor: Middle School Track CoachesSixth grade track is for those students who may be interested in running trackat the middle school and high school levels, or who simply want to learn moreabout the sport in a positive team environment. This program will allow sixthgraders to participate in several track meets, learn about the various events, andimprove their current tness level. nstructor: CE Staff The Saline Mini-Rays is a pre-competitive swim team. This program isdesigned for ages 5-8 interested in competitive swimming but not yet ready forhe full demands of a competitive team. Swimmers will learn the fundamentals

of competitive swimming focusing on freestyle and backstroke. Othercomponents of the program will include endurance work and introductions toracing and starts off the blocks. Swimmers will have an opportunity tocompete in dual meets as well as a championship meet at the end of theseason. Our winter 2015 season will begin Monday, January 5th. On this daywe will place the swimmers into one of two groups and have a short parentmeeting to go over the season.
