“Where there is no love, pour love in, and you will draw love out.” St. John of the Cross

Rejoice! “The third Sunday of Advent is called "Gaudete" Sunday (coming from the first word of the Latin Entrance Antiphon for this day, meaning "Rejoice") and the liturgical color may be rose instead of purple. This is the Church's way of further heightening our expectation as we draw ever nearer the Solemnity of Christmas” (USCCB.org).

"Let us get ready for Christmas by being close to Our Lady. Let us try, as well, to get ready for the Holy Season by encouraging an atmos-phere of Christian peace where we live and work, and by doing all we can in small ways to bring pleasure and affection to those around us. People tend to be convinced that Christ has really been born in Bethle-hem, and few things are more convincing that the habitual happiness of the Christian, even in the midst of pain and contradictions. Our Lady knew many such contradictions when she came to Bethlehem tired out and after such a long journey, and unable to find a place fit for the birth of her Son. But these problems did not cause her to lose her joy when God became Man, and dwelt amongst us” (In Conversation with God, Daily Meditations, Volume One: Advent and Christmastide)

"O Almighty God, gracious provider and giver of life, we anxiously await the celebration of your birth. Like the people of long ago, our ances-tors in faith, we, too, are in need of light, in need of direction, in need of your Word, to show us the way. Our busy lives and the consumerism that surrounds us make it difficult to recognize your kingdom and to hear your voice. Help us Lord, to focus on you. Amen” (The Essential Advent and Christmas Handbook).

St. Andrew Novena Prayed daily from November 30 – December 24 Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in pierc-ing cold. In that hour, vouchsafe, O my God! to hear my prayer and grant my desires (mention any special intentions), through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His Blessed Mother. Amen.

Starting January 2020: Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible Registration is now open at stphilipcc.weshareonline.org

Many people want to read the Bible be-cause they know it is God’s Word, but give up because it is so complicated. The Unlocking the Mystery of the Bi-ble study program helps you to get the “big picture” of the Bible by showing how fourteen narrative books of the Bible tell the complete story from Adam and Eve to Christ and the Church.

In this study, presenter Jeff Cavins will show you how to read the Bible so that you can actually understand it. Aided by a unique color-coded Bible Timeline Chart that arranges the key people, places, and events of Scripture in chronological order, Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible will help you discover the story of salvation history and under-stand how you fit into God’s plan.

The 8-session Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible study program in-cludes video presentations that explore the twelve time periods of The Bible Timeline Chart.

Charitable Gift Annuity Rates Scheduled to Change Did you know you can support your parish, school or the Catholic Dio-cese of Fort Worth and boost your retirement income? How It Works: Make a donation using cash, marketable securities or other assets, and the Advancement Foundation, in turn, pays you a fixed amount for life. With this type of gift, you can feel secure know-ing you will receive stable payments for as long as you live. And now, if you make your gift by Dec. 31, the gift annuity rates will be an estimated 0.3 to 0.5 percent higher than they will be beginning Jan. 1. More details are available at advancementfoundation.planmygift.org/charitable-gift-annuities or by contacting Renée Underwood, CFRE, Associate Director, Advancement Foundation, Catholic Diocese of Fort Worth, at 817-945-9441.
