Nevsky ProspectNevsky Prospekt is St. Petersburg's main avenue and
one of the best-known streets in Russia. Cutting
through the historical center of the city, it runs from
the Admiralty to the Moscow Railway Station and
then, after a slight kink, to the Alexander Nevsky
Monastery. In the very first days of St. Petersburg it
was simply the beginning of the road to the ancient
city of Novgorod, but it quickly became adorned with
beautiful buildings, squares and bridges and became
the very center of the bustling, rapidly growing city.

Kazan CathedralAlso known as the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan, is a
cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church on the Nevsky
Prospekt in Saint Petersburg. It is dedicated to Our Lady
of Kazan, probably the most venerated icon in Russia.
Construction of the cathedral started in 1801 and
continued for ten years under the supervision of
Alexander Sergeyevich Stroganov. The architect Andrey
Voronikhin modelled the building on St. Peter's Basilica
in Rome.

Cathedral of the Savior on Spilled Blood
Located at the side of Griboyedov Canal stands the majestic cathedral that
draws on so much attention of visitors to the city, thanks to its beautiful
architecture designs, its rich history and most amazingly, the beautiful
interior that is filled with intricate mosaic designs covering from floor to the
ceiling, covering a total area of 7,500 sq. m.
This is one landmark in St. Petersburg that you would not want to miss, as it
is one of the main attractions in the city center, and The Church of the
Resurrection, also known as the "Savior on Spilled Blood", was built in
memory of Alexander II who was assassinated in 1881. The Cathedral of the
Savior on Spilled Blood attracts people with its five onion-domes
exuberantly decorated and covered in jeweler's enamel. It has a similar
façade to St Basil's Cathedral in Moscow. Its peculiar multicolored exterior
makes it stand out from St. Petersburg’s typically strict architectural
proportions and color combinations.
Russian Vodka Museum
This small museum presents the long history of Russia’s national drink,
from 12th Century to 20th Century. The museum display cases full of vodka
bottles in unusual shapes, old advertising campaigns and some funny
dioramas explain the evolution of the Russian firewater. An excursion is
recommended as the exhibits are in Russia only. In the tasting room,
there’s also a chance to try out three different vodkas and traditional
Russian snacks.
Peterhof Palace and
Garden
The Peterhof Palace is a series of
palaces and gardens located in
Petergof, Saint Petersburg, Russia,
laid out on the orders of Peter the
Great. These palaces and gardens
are sometimes referred as the
"Russian Versailles". The palace-
ensemble along with the city center
is recognized as a UNESCO World
Heritage Site. Designed by Peter
the Great in the 18th century, the
Peterhof Grand Palace is truly
spectacular. Marvel at the throne
room, ballroom, ceremonial
staircase, and crown room.
Highlights of the formal gardens
include the Fountain of Neptune in
the Upper Garden, the Marine Canal
and Grand Cascade at the entrance
to the Grand Palace, the Pyramid
Fountain, and the Trick Fountains.
