Parish Trustees: A Changing of the Guard!!

What is a Parish Trustee?!!

A parishioner who serves as a trustee is an active, responsible member of the parish community, called to serve as overseer, counselor, and steward of parish resources. Trustees hold an im-portant role in the parish as members of the parish corporation board, ex�officio members of the finance council, and trustworthy advisors to the pastor, particularly when it comes to the temporal and human resources of the parish. They assist primarily with long�range and strategic financial plans, but they are also consult-ed on other important issues and developments that are happening in the parish. !!

Every Parish in the Diocese of Providence must have two trustees, nominated by the Pastor and appointed by the Bishop. Since my arrival in 2013, our Parish has been well served by Bill Estrella and Elodie DeStefano. They have been my closest advisors. !!

Recently, Elodie expressed her desire to step down as trustee and downsize some of her commitments outside of her family and home. Elodie has served in Parish leadership for many years, years often marked by challenge and change. She has been inval-uable to me with her prudent and wise advice. We all owe her a debt of gratitude!!!

I am pleased to announce that Theresa DeRiso has accepted my nomination as the new Parish Trustee. Theresa and her family (DeRiso & Patterson) are longtime parishioners and well known and respected in the Town of Warren. I am grateful to Theresa for accepting this important service to our Parish.!!

Holy Angels Parish, Barrington!

The Diocese of Dindigul in South East India was established by the Holy Father John Paul II on Nov. 10th, 2003 in the State of Tamilnadu In South India. There are now 49 Major Parishes with a population of nearly 135,000 Catholics with different so-cial, ethnic and caste background. This Diocese is situated in the District of Dindigul with a total population of 2.95 Million people of different religions and this region is also considered to be eco-nomically and socially most backward in whole of South India according to the 2001 Census of India. ! !Offering opportunities and facilities toward basic education, awareness and formation and rehabilitation to the poverty stricken and orphan children in the Diocese, who very often experience the impact of natural disasters and epidemics is urgent responsi-bility on the part of our Diocese.!!

Education, Evangelization and empowerment of women also one of the primary focuses of our Missionary work to uplift the fami-lies.!!

The Diocese also has great responsibility to support 79 Seminari-ans who are in their formation in different levels, in order to cope with the future spiritual, pastoral and missionary needs in the Dio-cese as well as other parts of the World. !!

Our second collection next weekend will help support our annu-al Mission Cooperative Plan , to help fulfill the above men-tioned responsibilities in our Mission for Christ.
