Rules of Conduct

Prohibits employees from being on duty and possessing, using, distributing or being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Prohibits employees from misusing alcohol or possessing, using or distributing drugs off the job to the extent that any off-duty possession, use or distribution impacts upon their effectiveness and ability to perform their employment duties, or adversely affects the interests of the School Board.

Penalties for Refusal to Submit

An injured employee forfeits any medical and indemnity benefits under Florida Worker’s Compensation Statute

May be discharged or otherwise disciplined by the School Board

Confidentiality

All information, interviews, reports, statements, memos, and drug test results, written or otherwise, received by the School Board will be treated in a confidential manner, unless otherwise required by Florida law.

Employee Responsibilities for Safety Maintain a safe work area Perform duties in a safe manner

Complete required safety training Make sure you have the tools you need to

safely do your job or perform a task • Example: standing on a chair or table to

attach something to a wall, bulletin board or ceiling tile is strictly prohibited

Report any unsafe conditions to your site administrator

Immediately report any incident or injury to your administrator/supervisor

Workplace Injury Procedure Report injuries immediately to administrative personnel at

your work site First Report of Injury and Incident Investigation report must be

completed and submitted to Risk Management Post-incident drug screens are required for all incidents

reported to administration Administrative personnel at work site will notify Risk

Management regarding the incident/injury Three incident categories

• Report only – the incident does not require medical care but requires a post-incident drug screen

• Medical - the incident requires medical care for the employee but does not require immediate emergency care. Risk Management will arrange for the employee to be seen by the district’s designated worker’s compensation physician.

• Emergency - the incident requires immediate medical care and the employee will be taken or instructed to go to the closest Emergency Room for treatment

Modified duty is available (usually at an alternate worksite)
