PRAYER CHAIN : Edna Doherty 541-902-8647 SACRAMENT OF JOY AND PEACE I remember after receiving First Eucharist, I was driven by my mother to go to reconciliation often, and I was terrified, and I was often changing the lines so that confession time will expire, and I will be saved by the bell for the mass! Our sins damage our relationship with God and one another, and we feel estranged and unworthy to approach the table of God. Sacrament of reconciliation repairs the rupture, brings Christ’s healing pardon and peace and energizes our journey of faith. God has entrusted the Church with the Ministry of Reconciliation . Christ offered forgiveness and peace to his Apostles, and he sent them forth as messengers of forgiveness and peace. When we keep closer to Christ, the Eucharist makes us sin-resistant because we experience God at the center of our lives. We are also made conscious of who we are and how we are loved by God and the rich dignity to which he has called us all. Since God is the core of our lives, we are persuaded to be humble and acknowledge Christ as Savior. This Sacrament restores our communion with God through sorrow for sins, confession of sins, penance and reception of forgiveness by absolution, and we are filled with joy and peace!
