1.1.9 Configure DNP 3.0 settings

The relay operates as a DNP 3.0 slave device and S&R Courier allows configuration of the relay’s DNP 3.0 response. The configuration data is uploaded from the relay to the PC in a block of compressed format data and downloaded to the relay in a similar manner after modification. The modified DNP 3.0 configuration takes effect in the relay after the download is complete.

The DNP 3.0 File for an IED will vary depending on the implementation of the IED. The DNP 3.0 Files developed for the original DNP 3.0 implementation in Px40 relays are backwards compatible using MiCOM S1 version 2.13. However the appearance of any DNP 3.0 File using MiCOM S1 version 2.13 will look different to viewing the same file with an earlier version of S1.

The DNP 3.0 Files used in the enhanced DNP 3.0 implementation for Px40 relays have additional functions and settings available. These files are only configurable using MiCOM S1 version 2.13 and later.

Configuration of the DNP 3.0 Files for the enhanced implementation is detailed in the following sections. The program provides 3 tabs for the functions of Point Configuration, Integer Scaling and Default Variation. Each tab allows navigation and support for additional functions per tab as follows.

1.1.9.1 Point configuration

The Point Configuration tab contains the Binary Inputs, Binary Outputs, Counters and Analogue Inputs tabulated views. Each tab contains relevant configuration data to that group. The point configurations for all groups include a Master Points List and a Configured Points List.

The Master Points List contains all available points per device type (e.g. P145). The list can be ordered either by point number or alphabetically by Description. To order the list by point number the mouse pointer can left click the MPI column heading. To order the list alphabetically the mouse pointer can left click the Description column heading.

The Configured Points List is ordered by the Configured Point Index (CPI) and contains only configured points. Each corresponding MPI number, description and any available settings are included for every point. The maximum number of points that can be included in the Configured Point List is equal to the total number of points listed in the Master Point List.

A -- Separator -- point is provided in the Master Points List to allow custom tables to be created and could be used to match the mappings of commissioned systems. This will also aid in producing consistent points mappings between different products, allowing data to be located at the same point in all devices. The Separator will return a zero value dependent on the variation requested and will be flagged as offline.

The “Add”, “Remove”, “Add All” and “Remove All” buttons are used for the addition or removal of points from the Master Point List onto the Configured Point List. The “Add” button will add the selected Master Point into the Configured Point List in the order added or at the highlighted position. A double click with the left mouse button on a selected point in the Master Point List will also add the point into the Configured Point List. The “Remove” button will remove the highlighted point in the Configured list.

The “Move Up” and “Move Down” buttons are used to reposition the CPI for the selected point in the Configured list by one position.

Page 12: S1V2 Dnp Config

MiCOM S1V2

1.1.9.1.1 Binary inputs

The Master Points List is a dynamic list and will display all unfitted points in grey italics based on the IED model number and hardware. Below the list is a Hide Unfitted Points check box and by selecting the check box will remove all unfitted points from the Master Point List. Unfitted points have a similar use as Separator points.

The Remove Unfitted button is used to remove all unfitted points from the Configured Points List.

A Class column is available in the Configured Points List which displays the configured class setting for every configured point in the list. The class setting is selected in the Class of Data Point list as Disabled, Class 1, Class 2 or Class 3.

Alternatively a right-click menu is displayed if the Configured Points List is currently selected and a mouse button right-click is made. Selecting an item in this list will assign all configured points to the same class.

A Source column is shown in the Configured Points List and displays a description type from where each point is generated.

1.1.9.1.2 Binary outputs

The Binary Outputs only includes the selection of points and ordering functions.

1.1.9.1.3 Counters

The configuration of the Counters includes two settings for each point added to the Configured Points List. The Class column and setting is the same as described for Binary Inputs section 0.

A Frozen check box allows each point to be selected as frozen or not frozen.

Alternatively a right-click menu is displayed if the Configured Points List is currently selected and a mouse button right-click is made. Selecting an item in the top list will assign all configured points to the same class. Selecting an item in the bottom list will check or uncheck the Frozen box for every point.

1.1.9.1.4 Analogue inputs

The configuration of the Analogue Inputs includes Class and Deadband settings for each point added to the Configured Points List. The Class column and setting is the same as described for Binary Inputs section 0. Each point will also display a Scaling Group and is described in further detail in the Integer Scaling section 1.1.9.2.

Page 14: S1V2 Dnp Config

S1V2DNP/EN HI/A11 IEC Configurator (IE) 10

MiCOM S1V2

The Deadband settings are shown below the Configured Points List. The deadband value is entered in the Deadband textbox and the corresponding unit is displayed in the Units field.

The deadband value can be set in terms of a Primary, Secondary or Normalised value as selected in the Display list. For correct scaling the scaling factors for each Analogue Input point must be uploaded from the relay as part of the DNP 3.0 File. S&R-Courier will convert the deadband values back to normalised values before downloading them to the relay and saving the file. The scaling factors are determined by the CT and VT ratios.

The relay will use the normalised values (based on 1A/110V) during the analogue event scanning process. The deadband scanning will not account for changes to the CT/VT ratios made after the DNP configuration has been downloaded to the relay.

A right-click menu is displayed if the Configured Points List is currently selected and a mouse button right-click is made. Selecting an item in the top list will assign all configured points to the same class. Selecting an item in the bottom list will assign all configured points to display the same scaling display value.

1.1.9.2 Integer scaling

The Integer Scaling displays the Group Name and Scaling Factor for every analogue group. Selecting a group name in the list will make the Scaling Factor available for editing. The Scaling Factor of each group will scale every point data in the Analogue Inputs configured list corresponding to that group.
