Student Subject We discussed... I really enjoyed this unit because...

Justin Science The human body. I already had background knowledge and we got to watch videos

and movies.

Autumn ELA Writing essays. In the future, I’d like to write stories in my free time. I also like to

express my ideas on paper because I am usually too shy to talk

about it. It’s fun to use grammar properly because it makes me fell

more professional and important.

Cole Art Christmas villages

with Miss Gauley.

We were in groups of four and still got to make our own section,

then put them together to make a big Christmas village.

Dominic PE Volleyball Volleyball is a fun sport and my favorite. I also enjoyed it because

it helped us practice when it was volleyball season.

Sydney Math Percentages. We learned how to calculate the cost of items that are on sale and it

will be very useful to know in the future.

Jayden Social Immigration. It wasn't as bad as some other classes—I found it very interesting.

Olivia PAA Canada’s 150th

Birthday!

We got to work in groups and make our own videos. We learned

about how you can get free national park passes and take a trip to

one this summer. I think it is important to celebrate and learn

about Canadian history.

Nelliah Health HIV/AIDS This knowledge will help us in the future, when we need to know

how not to get STDs. When we do class discussions, Mr. Volman

always tells us very interesting stories!

Nevaeh Career

Guidance

Jobs. I had fun pretending to have a job and finding out the salary. We

had to save money to save for things like a vacation.

Hayden Science Animal and plant

cells.

Mr. Volman let us watch videos and he made everything easier to

understand.

Kaleb ELA Adventures, Greek

mythology

We wrote an essay on Greek mythology. We also got to make a sto-

ry on a Greek monster’s point of view.

Kiera Art Matisse name pro-

jects

We learned what it was like for Matisse to cut out objects using just

scissors and not sketching it beforehand.

Hyatt Math Mean, median and

mode.

Mrs. Phillips let us watch videos and it helped me understand it

better than doing the workbook and textbook pages.

Jodeci Social Canada’s history. I found out a lot of things I never knew about Canada. Most of the

events we learned in history were tragic, like residential schools.

We watched a video on what went on and I felt sorry for the stu-

dents. This is one of the biggest reasons I like Social—because we

are learning about past mistakes and how we are getting better.

Amy PAA Wooden side tables. It was hands-on and we can use these skills later on in life.

Kaitlyn G Health Decision-making. We got to find out how to make smart and important decisions.

This will help me when I need to make useful decisions later on in

life.

Reagan Career Guid-

ance

Resumes. Each student got a fake job. We got our salary and were

able to buy things like houses and accessories. It taught us

how to make resumes for future jobs.

Brady Science Cells. We learned so much about the body. It was cool doing pro-

jects with the cells and watching the movie.

Kieran ELA Greek mythology. It was fun. We got to make up our own Greek monster.

Zander Art Sketching shapes

and objects.

We got to turn basic shapes like circles and squares in to

cars and apples with Ms. Gauley.

Rylan PE Sports. I love playing sports with my friends and classmates. I al-

ways have fun and it keeps me in shape.

Katelyn D Math Fractions It is fun learning how fractions are used every day.

Kennedy Social Immigration It is important to Canadian citizens and what our country is

doing about the act. It is important to our younger genera-

tion to be aware of what is happening in the world.

Jaxon PAA Tables. We got to work in groups and learned how to use tools like a

hammer, nail gun and screw driver.

Braiden Health Decision-making We got to see what decisions people have to make on a daily

basis. We learnt there are things such as snap decisions,

responsible decisions and no decision.

Jamie Career Guid-

ance

Budget and using

money wisely.

It will be very useful when we are older and out of school

and living on our own. Also, I like to work with money.

Thom PE Archery. I have always found archery very fun!

With only 8 ½ weeks of school to go, the Grade 7/8’s will be very busy. In ELA we will be working on various

projects such as starting a new unit on Natural and Man-Made Disasters, finishing our novel, “The Misfits,”

and writing and presenting oratory speeches. In Art we have just started our drama unit. The students will

be participating in various drama activities, ending with a brief production.

The Grade 8’s will be finishing various units in math on probability, data analysis and linear relations. Our

year end trip is planned for Monday, June 26, 2017. If your child is not going to be here that day, please let

me know in advance. ~ Mrs. Klapatiuk

The grade 7s have been working hard in Math this year. They have covered numerous topics including: 2-D

Geometry, Circle Graphs, Measurement, Statistics, Probability, Number Relations & Divisibility, Fractions,

and Decimals. They will finish up the year with their final units on Percent, Integers, and Linear Relations

& Equations. ~ Mrs. Phillips

*Pages 5 & 6 will showcase the Grade 7/8s artwork.*

First and foremost, thank you all for making this past month a huge success. Our first two hot lunch days

went very well, and we could not have done it without you.

May is going to be a very busy month in the kitchen for us. On May 10th, we are having a bake sale where we

will be selling sugar cookies, jello, and worms ‘n dirt. Everything will be sold for under two dollars and, if

there are any leftovers, they will be sold the next day at recess.

We will also be having a Subway lunch on May 17th. Order forms will be coming out shortly and will be due

on May 10th.

Lastly, there will be a lunch that will be open to the community on May 31st. We will be selling soup and

sandwiches. Anyone in town can send in an order form and enjoy our lunch. Watch for posters for more in-

formation.

So, come on down in May, and join us for lunk.

Tupperware Fundraiser

Just a reminder that our Yearbook Committee is holding a Tupperware fundraiser and we’d appreciate your fami-

ly’s help in supporting this cause. The fundraiser will take effect from April 13th – May 5th. One member of

your family was given a fundraising package before Easter holidays. In it you received the informational letter, a

double-sided flyer of items to share with family and friends, and a form to tally all of your orders. If you require

room for more orders, there will be extra forms in the office. This is a great fundraiser as the school will receive

40% of all profit made from the purchases. Money and orders can be handed in to classroom teachers, Mrs.

Krauss’s office, or directly to Mrs. Baber. Finally, our consultant (Wanda Crumley) is donating five student-

friendly Tupperware prizes – winners will be drawn from those who submit orders. If you have any questions,

don’t hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or (306) 776-2332. Thank you in advance for your

support!

Badminton

The Rebels have had a very successful season. After playing exhibition tournaments with Avonlea the Rebels were ready

for playoffs. The Senior team, consisting of twelve players, travelled to Caronport for the North Section playoffs on April

7th. All teams played very well with three teams and one individual advancing to playoffs. With the strong Avonlea Ea-

gles as the biggest competition, the Rebels stayed strong but fell short of a medal.

The following day, twenty two Bantam players competed in the North Section playoffs. The Bantam Rebels were excit-

ed to compete as for many of them it was their first time. After a nervous first game, all players settled in and played

exceptionally well. With true Rebel spirit and determination there were many hard fought battles. Nine teams and one

individual advanced to playoffs all striving for a Sectional medal. Unfortunately some of the playoff games consisted of

Rouleau vs Rouleau, thus knocking out our own Rebels. After the playoff round, the Rebels came home with three team

medals.

Congratulations to our Medal winners: Tanner Bean & Brady Burkitt (Gold- Boys Doubles), Ethan Armstrong & Kaelyn

Logan (Gold- Mixed Doubles), Sydney Waller & Kennedy Nolan (Silver- Girls Doubles). We are happy to report that

Ethan & Kaelyn and Sydney & Kennedy brought home the gold from District playoffs on Saturday, April 29th!
